Santhosh K.S. PGDM 2009-11 Batch presented paper titled Future of Management Education – Challenges and Opportunities which won the Best Student Paper Silver Medal in the 22nd AIMS Annual Management Education Convention 2010 held at Delhi on 27th August 2010. The award was presented by Dr. Karan Singh, MP and Titular Maharaja of Jammu and Kashmir, the Chief Guest of the event. |
| Swosti Panda and Srikiran of PGDM 2010-12 won the 2nd place prize in the Association of Brics Business Schools (ABBS) Case Competition held in Guangzhou China on 26 March. They competed with teams from India, China, Brazil, Russia and South Africa. Their case was on the SKDRDP Initiative. |

Kushal Bhathija, Divya Ventakesh, Gaurav Dwivedi and Sowmya Balasubramanian have won the first prize at IIM[A] for "Nestle Marketing Case Study presentation”. Over 550 teams across India registered and 5 were selected for the final presentation to be held in IIM[A]. The final 5 had two teams from IIM[A], one from IIM[B], one from SP Jain and other being our college. They beat all of them by a big margin to win the first prize which includes constitutes certificate and Rs.60,000/-.The second prize of Rs. 30,000/- was jointly shared by IIMA and S.P. Jain Institute of Management. |

| The student association Kala Anubhav, dedicated to the promotion of Indian fine arts at SDMIMD, Mysore organized “Sur Sandhya”, an evening of Hindustani classical music by Sri. Omkarnath Havaldar on Friday, 8th October, 2010 at the Institute Auditorium. |
| In the recently held Dasara Flower Show Competition, SDMIMD Horticultural team has bagged 3 First Prizes under Educational Institute category - The Rolling Cup (The Sosale Siddiah Rolling Cup) for the best Educational Institute Garden , best Indoor Ornamental Plants and best Campus Ornamental Plants. |

| The Annual Event was on the 20th and 21st Nov 2010 at the SDMIMD Campus. The evening of 20th Nov 2010 started with the inauguration. The lamp was lit by Dr. N.R Parasuraman, Deputy Director and Dean Academics, SDMIMD. Joining him was the Alumnus, Mr. Praveen, from the batch of 1994-96 and Prof. Malathi Sriram,Chairperson-Alumni Activities. Dr. N.R Parasuraman shared his thoughts with the Alumni while the Alumnus, Mr. Praveen reminiscence the 'good-old' days at SDMIMD. |

As part of an International Student Exchange Program with SDMIMD, Mysore, Faculty and Honours Students of Management from MAYS B-School at Texas A&M University visited Mysore from 08-15 Jan 2011. This tour was titled "MAYS India Business International Field Trip". The visit also coincided with the SDMIMD Annual Business Fest, 'Naissance 2011'. The Mays B School team had a busy schedule of class room sessions on Ethics and Values,Consumerism in India, IT Trends in India and HR Practices. In addition, they enjoyed an insightful Yoga session. The team went on academic visits to corporates in and around Mysore.The team visited M/s Reid & Taylor, M/s Infosys Technologies and M/s Software Paradigms Infotech (SPI). |
| Competition for Undergraduate students organized by SDMIMD students - Abhigyaan 2010 was held on October 23 and October 24, 2010 at Institute campus. Students of the undergraduate colleges from Karnataka and neighbouring states participated in Abhigyaan 2010. SDM College for Business Management, Mangalore won the Overall Trophy. |

Amulya Kulkarni and Abhishek Saini won the First Prize for their paper on "Issues in Training in International Trade", presented at the National conference on International Trade held at NMIT, Bangalore on October 20, 2010. The papers "Universal Ethics in International Trade" by Swetha and Sunil; and "OPEC-Price Rise in Oil Industry" by Jyoti Kumari and Sourya were presented at the Conference. |

Dr. R. Jagadeesh, Professor-Operations Management, has been invited by Fox Business School of Temple University, Philidelphia, USA as adjunct faculty and will be handling the Management Science / Operations Management course during his visit. He is also involved in research in the area of Supply Chain Management collaborating with Prof. Mark Gershon. |

SDMites won the first and second prize at iATROSCAN- a B-plan contest hosted by Department of Management Studies, Adhiyamaan College, Hosur in association with the Next big idea, IIMB, Intel, DST & NSRCEL by beating 40 teams from other leading b-schools.
The first prize was won by Apoorva M S & Arunkumar S for their b-plan titled "Farmgrown. A bridge between farmers and consumers" The second prize was won by the team comprising of Carl Fernandes & Debottam Saha for their b-plan titled "Myfashion. An online fashion consultancy and E-tailing service" |

The short film - "PARADOX" directed by Mr. Praveen Sharma, a Concept of Ms. Pooja Mishra, both from PGDM 2010-12 has won the Best Short film award, under B-School Category at the NATIONAL SHORT FILM FESTIVAL held at IMT Nagpur on October 16, 2010. The film not only went on to win the prestigious award but also has been selected,to be screened under the banner of Shamiana at various festivals in the time to come. |

| Padmabhushana Rajarshi Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade, Chairman, SDMIMD inaugurated the famous Mysore Dasara 2010 on October 8, 2010. The auspicious occassion was Presided by Dr. B.S. Yeddyurappa, Chief Minister, Govt. of Karnataka. The festivity was special since it was the 400th Year Celebration of Dasara. |
| NAISSANCE 2011 conducted on 6th to 8th January 2011 in association with TCS (Tata Consultancy Services) was a grand success. 200 participants from 25 different B-Schools across the country battled to prove their mettle. Over 1 lakh cash prize was awarded and the overall championship was won by Christ University Institute of Management, Bangalore.
The flagship event B-Emperor (Entrepreneurship Event) organized in association with "The Next Big Idea" a venture of Department of Science & Technology, GOI, NSRCEL (IIM Bangalore) and Intel Inc., was won by - First Prize: Mr. Garvith Mathur and Mr. Yogesh Gupta from Christ University Institute of Management. Their B-plan was on Myfashion.com, 'Fashion on the fly', an online consultancy and E-tailing service. |

SDMites were declared as the Overall Runners-Up Champions at Kurukshetra - The B-Fest of Manipal Institute of Management. The PGDM 2009-11 batch Mr. Kushdeep and Ms. Sameera won the First prize in Operations Game; Ms. Manisha Giria and Ms. Aparna won Second prize in the HR event; Mr. Pratik Choksi and Mr. Chandan bagged the Second prize in the B-Plan propositions. |

SDM Institute for Management Development (SDMIMD) played host over the weekend to a team of students and faculty from Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa (BRICS). Students from SDMIMD interacted with the team and learnt about their culture, what they like about India and about economic and business trends and their impact on BRICS countries. The team visited Infosys's global education center and also found time to learn more about the rich heritage of our royal city before leaving for Bangalore. They were in India to participate in a conference held on November 26th and 27th under the aegis of the Association of BRICS Business Schools (ABBS) held at the XIME, Bangalore. XIME and SDM IMD are both Members of ABBS. |
| Workshop on Negotiation Skills was organized by SDMIMD on Saturday, July 24, 2010 at the Institute campus. The workshop was well received by the corporates. Dr. H. Gayathri was the program faculty of the workshop. |
| Annual chess tourney "Mathrushree Ratnamma Heggade Memorial Chess Tournament 2011" was organized on 23rd sunday, at SDM Institute for Management Development Mysore. The tourney was open to UG/PG students, Corporate Executives, Govt and Pvt Employees. Five rounds of Swiss League were held by city's Arbiter Mr.M.M. Biddappa. The grand masters displayed their combat skills from 10 a.m to 5.30 p.m. at the Institute's Wellness Center.
First Prize of Rs 3000 and a trophy was won by Mr.K. Vijayakeerthi, 7th semester E&C Student of SJCE Mysore, Mr. Sanjith Saha of South Western Railway won the 2nd Prize of Rs 2500/- Third prize of Rs 2000/- was won by Mr.K. Shantharam of ICICI Chikmagalur Branch, Fourth prize Rs 1500/- was bagged by Mr.S.M. Raviprakash of Life Insurance Corporation of India, Mysore (also Treasurer of Mysore District Chess Association) and the Fifth prize went to Mr. Uttam Sharma of IDBI Bank, Bangalore.

| Ragunandan V R, Sanjay Somashekar, Praveen Sharma & Pooja Mishra, won the second prize in the marketing event named MAD (Marketing, Advertising & Design), at the fest conducted by BITS Pilani, Goa Campus. They had to design an ad for Videocon GSM Services and a poster for Mahindra Scorpio supplemented with a presentation, explaining the strategies involved in designing the same. They were short-listed from amongst 30 teams from across the country. |

SDMIMD hosted Budget Conclave 2011 on March 1st (Tuesday) 2011 at 5:00 PM in the Institute's auditorium. An eminent panel discussed the finer aspects of Budget. All were invited to participate in the Budget Conclave and benefit from the deliberations.
