71st Independence Day Celebration

Dr. G. Srilakshminarayana, Faculty, SDMIMD, hoisted the Tri-Colour during the 71st Independence Day Celebration and addressed the gathering. Dr. Srilakshminarayana recalled the sacrifices of freedom fighters and shared the dreams they have for future India. Quoting from the published source he said “a nation or society can be built if the citizens are built with right virtues” and called upon SDMites to achieve the same and march to build a bright society, which can be gifted to the future generations. Further, he appealed to the gathering to carry the virtues that were sown by the great leaders, teachers, parents and move forward to achieve the success to the heights but with depth in wisdom. Faculty & Staff Members and Students, joined the celebration. The celebration concluded with the distribution of sweets and community breakfast.

Sports Talk Series – Talk by Mr Arjun Goutham

‘Sport is always considered being second to academics in this country, slowly but surely things have been changing and sport is heading in the right direction’ thus opined Mr.  Arjun Goutham, Mind Coach, during the Sports Talk delivered to students of Sports Management Course on August 12, 2017. Mr. Arjun speaking on the topic ‘Taking a Stand for the Future of Indian Sports’ gave light to aspiring sports management students about the power of the mind and its' utilisation in the field of sports. He called upon the students to make the recommendations based on their experience to change the face of sports and take a stand to create a difference for the coming generations. The interactive talk gave an insight about how clear and progressive thought process could bring about a revolution in sports in this country.

Singapore Conference

Thirteenth Asia-Pacific Conference on Global Business, Economics, Finance and Banking was organised by Global Business Research, Dubai in association with SDM IMD, Mysore on August 4-5, 2017 at Singapore. Prof. A. Seetharaman, Dean-Academic Affairs, S.P. Jain School of Global Management, Singapore Campus inaugurated the conference and delivered keynote address. In his talk, Prof. Seetharaman focussed on demystifying the practical utility and efficiency of Keynes’ theoretical framework on GDP identity. The conference was attended by the delegates from countries including China, United Kingdom, Srilanka, Taiwan, Turkey, India, Kenya and South Africa. Dr. Elango Rengasamy, the Conference Director delivered the introductory talk and welcomed delegates to the conference. Dr. B. Venkatraja, Faculty – SDM IMD, Mysore proposed the vote of thanks. The two- day conference was packed with events like technical sessions, panel discussion, interactive session and paper presentation sessions. 

Workshop on Effective Business Negotiation

As the business environment is increasingly becoming competitive and complex, it is critical for managers to equip themselves with negotiating skills. With this objective SDMIMD conducted a Workshop on Effective Business Negotiation on July 21, 2017 to the executives of Supreem Pharmaceuticals Mysore Pvt. Ltd., at SDMIMD Campus.  The workshop was designed and offered by Dr. H. Gayathri, Deputy Director and Professor in Marketing. This 1-day workshop was well received by the corporate world.

Talk by Sports Course Brand Ambassador

Former international tennis player and Brand Ambassador of SDMIMD and CS&MS Sports Management Course Mr. Somdev Devvarman said that there was a pressing need to promote sports at the grassroots level in the country. Mr. Somdev was delivering the talk on ‘Training and Development of an Athlete - Achieving Excellence in Sport’ to the students of Sports Management Course and invited sports professionals on July 20, 2017 at MDP Hall, SDMIMD. Former tennis ace highlighted need for training & developing sporting talent and sport managers in India to emerge as a major sporting nation in coming years. Earlier, senior tennis coach & Founder Member of CS&MS Mr. Enrico Preperno, welcomed the gathering and introduced the speaker of the Sports Talk Series. Mr. Arijith Ghosh, Honorary Member of CS&MS and faculty of the course delivered the Vote of Thanks. Sports Course Program Director Dr. H. Gayathri, faculty members of the institute and invitees were present.

CMDP for Vinyas Innovative Technologies Pvt.,Ltd.

The Customized Management Development Program (CMDP) for Vinyas Innovative Technologies, Mysore, concluded on Saturday, July 15, 2017. The 10-month week-end program offered to the executives began in August 2016. The CMDP covered the essential topics under the areas of Finance, Marketing, Human Resources, Operations, and Negotiations. Dr. H. Gayathri, Deputy Director and Professor of Marketing at SDMIMD, designed and coordinated the program to meet the requirements of Vinyas Innovative Technologies. Experienced academic team of SDMIMD delivered the sessions bringing the innovative training methods into this corporate training. 35 executives with various backgrounds and disciplines attended the program at SDMIMD campus.

Workshop on Leadership

The new mantra at B-schools is ‘Becoming a leader’ and learning about leadership is the in thing in any management institute. This trend has emerged as the objective of prospective young managers in recent times. Along with the key specializations offered, B-School students’ demands learning about leadership to meet the corporate and entrepreneurship need of the day. To meet this need a 3-Day workshop on Leadership was organized during July 12 to 14, 2017 for the PGDM 2016-18 Batch.   Dr. Prakash K. Nair, Independent Consultant and Leadership Trainer, introduced the world of leadership and discussed on the nuances of good leadership during the session. 

Khoj 2017

Khoj - the talent search festival of SDMites is a platform to for the new batch of PGDM to showcase their skills in various areas. Kohj 2017 was organized on July 10, 2017 to identify the gifted freshers through various competitions and to formally welcome them to the student committees of the Institute. The show by the new PGDM batch 2017-19 was laced with impromptu speeches, colourful dances, humorous skits, classical songs and fancy dress shows.
