Microfinance study field visit

The PGDM 2018-20 Batch students from Microfinance specialization had an opportunity to interact with the beneficiaries of Shri Kshethra Dharmasthala Rural Development Project (SKDRDP) in Lakshmipura, Mysuru District. The filed visit organized by the course faculty Prof.  S. Kannadas, helped the students to visit the project location and small-scale business establishments of the beneficiaries of the scheme. 
 
The students concerned collected primary data about the SHG/JLG/PBG group formation and the training provided by SKDRDP for their upliftment of their standard of living. Further, the representative from SKDRDP provided information about the awareness programmes of women empowerment and various installation / establishment / training support extended by the organization for - solar water heater, gober gas plants, cattle rearing / poultry farms and the monthly books published by SKDRDP for the awareness of women empowerment.
 
Later, students were taken to the business establishments and explained the business & marketing process of the products manufactured by the establishments.

Khoj 2019

Khoj - the talent search festival of SDMites is a platform for the new batch of PGDM 2019-21 to showcase their aptitude. Kohj 2019 was organized on August 3, 2019, to identify talent among the freshers through various competitions and to formally Welcome them to student committees of the Institute. The show by the new PGDM batch 2019-21 was laced with impromptu speeches, colourful dances, humorous skits, classical songs and fancy dress shows. Seniors PGDM 2018-19 Batch hosted the event and introduced the various clubs & committees to the new bees on the campus. 

Startup Charcha 2019 by SDMites E-Cell

SDMIMD Entrepreneurship Cell (E-Cell) - Swayam organized its flagship event ‘Startup Charcha' on 7th February 2019. The program began with a Panel Discussion on the topic ‘Entrepreneurship: Issues, Challenges, and the Way Ahead’, moderated by Dr. M R Suresh, Professor – Marketing, SDMIMD and also the Coordinator of the event. The Distinguished Panellists were Mr. Sanjay Srinivasmurthy, Director-Silicon Road, Mr. Krishna Narayana, Managing Director of Shyama Jewels and Dr. M Sriram, Professor – Finance, SDMIMD. This was followed by an insightful talk by Mr Sanjaya Doreswamy, Founder - Kuteera Kitchen. The keynote address was delivered by Mr. Narendra Narayanan, Founder & Managing Director of Vinyas Innovative Technologies Pvt. Ltd, Mysuru. The charcha concluded with open forum having interaction between the students and the distinguished guests.

HH Yaduveer Wadiyar inaugurates Naissance 2019

SDMIMD's flagship B-School Management Fest Naissance was inaugurated on 1st February 2019. The 2019 edition with the theme 'Combat of the Crowns’ was inaugurated by the Chief Guest His Highness, The Maharaja of Mysore, Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar. The two-day national level B-School fest witnessed intellectual battle and supremacy between the brightest minds of premier B-schools of India with the participation of 176 students from 18 colleges. The theme of ‘Naissance 2019 – Combat of the Crowns’ revolved around the management lessons and principles derived from the ancient Indian emperors and its implications in today’s dynamic business environment. Kristu Jayanthi College from Bengaluru emerged as the Overall winners of Naissance 2019.

SDMites extend Financial Support to NGO's

The student wing of SDMIMD has several Social Responsibility initiatives extending a helping hand continuously to the NGOs, Government Departments, and Social Service Organizations. The students 'Social Relevant Projects' provide a suitable solution to the existing problems in these organizations. 
 
As in the previous years’ SDMites as a part of the social responsibility initiative extended financial contribution to the NGO's in Mysore on January 3, 2019. Organizations - Sneha Kirana Spastic Society; Purna Chetana Public School; Divya Deepa Charitable Trust’s Kaliyuva Mane; Arivu Vidya Samsthe, Nireekshe School for Special Children, Pratham, Shakthidama, Pinjarapole and Asha Kirana Hospital, were identified for the current year for this initiative. 
 
Sri C.V. Sridhar, the Administrative Officer, joined the students during this support activity.

Kannada Rajyotsava Celebration

Kannada Rajyotsava was celebrated at Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Institute for Management Development (SDMIMD), Mysore, on November 20, 2018. The Rajyotsava started with a festive mode decorating the campus with buntings, posters of prominent personalities of Karnataka, and flowers. The event started with hosting of the Kannada flag of 40 feet. Students sang the Kannada Naadageete ‘Jaya Bharata Jananiya tanujaate’ followed by National Anthem. A special lunch with unique dishes of Karnataka was served by the students from 22 states of the institute to faculty and staff members of the institute. 
 
In the evening, sports and cultural programs were organized. Traditional local games of Karnataka were introduced to other state students. Students from other states sang Kannada songs and danced to the tunes. Kabaddi match played between the staff and students’ teams and the ‘Folk dance’ performance were the highlights of the celebrations.

Abhigyaan 2018 - Annual Fest for UG Students

SDMIMD conducted Abhigyaan ’18 the annual fest for undergraduate students during October 5 & 6, 2018 at SDMIMD. 200+ young undergraduates from colleges across Karnataka participated in various management events like Best Manager, Marketing, Finance, HR, Entrepreneurship. The events witnessed active participation in Quiz, Treasure hunt, Street Play, etc. The inaugural day culminated with cultural competitions like Singing, Dancing and Fashion show.
 
The Day-2 of Abhigyaan 2018 commenced with the final rounds of the management events. The team from MICA, Mysore, emerged as Overall Championship of Abhigyaan’ 2018. The colorful prize distribution ceremony to the winning teams marked the end of the management fest.

Theater Act on 'Education and Social Reformation'

Dr. R. Poornima, Professor - English (Retd.), Karnataka State Open University (KSOU), Mysore, and her team presented stage performance on the theme 'Education and Social Reformation' on August 27, 2018, at Institute Auditorium. The performance touched upon the various neurological disorders and how people with such disorders behave. Further, the performance introduced how education can be used as a tool to overcome such disorders and impact of such change among the people and society as a whole. The Khalanubhav team of SDMites coordinated the program.
