The paper speaks about the ‘Entrepreneurs Spirit’ which was added to factors of production by J. B. Say. The author opines that absence of which may be a reason for underdeveloped societies. Further, the author says that entrepreneurial spirit and economic developments are highly correlated, which in turn related to social well-being. It is both the cause and effect of socio-economic activities of a nation. For a developing country like India, entrepreneurial spirit is the key resource and a critical element in socioeconomic development. Despite its abundance, especially in rural, we are developing with snail’s pace. The missing link here is the ‘skill’! It is our responsibility to nurture, implement and preserve entrepreneurial spirit and build native capabilities for the very purpose of global development. All we need to do is to create conducive environment and direct the energy in right direction.

FDP on Innovative methods in Teaching HRM & OB

Management education, over the last 10 years, has witnessed several challenges, arising out of the emerging complexities in business environment. Students need to be sensitized to the dynamics of managing interpersonal relationship at the workplace, which needs to be learnt by them, not only through concepts, but also, through experiential learning. Teaching subjects in the areas of Human Resource Management (HRM) and Organizational Behavior (OB), therefore, has become challenging and requires special skillsets. While it is necessary to appreciate and focus on the various conceptual and theoretical frameworks of HRM and OB in the classrooms, faculty members need to facilitate in the process of preparing the students (budding managers) to get ready to face managerial challenges. To do so, a pressing need is felt to develop and implement innovative methods in teaching subjects related to HRM and OB. To address the above, SDMIMD Mysore is organizing a two day Faculty Development Program on "Innovative methods in Teaching HRM and OB", on 3 and 4 April, 2014, at SDMIMD Mysore Campus.
