Prize for the Student paper presentation competition

Chirag Ghiya and Swosti Panda of PGDM 2010-12 won Third Prize in student paper presentation competition at the 3rd international conference on IT & Business Intelligence (ITBI-2011) held on November 25-27, 2011, jointly organized by IMT Nagpur and St. Ann's college, Hyderabad. They competed against a number of participants of national and international repute.The paper was on "Is Cloud Computing a Viable Option for SMEs wishing to Implement an ERP System". It is co authored by Prof. Neetu Ganapathy, Chirag Ghiya and Swosti Panda.

Bon Voyage PGDM Batch 2011-13

The Institute-sponsored International Trip to Bangkok, Thailand, for all first year PGDM students got underway on November 27, 2011 with the departure of first batch. Students will be visiting in 3 batches for a week each. This is the first time that the Institute is arranging a full week long study tour for the entire batch. The tour will provide hands-on experience in International Business Affairs covering socio-economic and cultural situations prevailing in the South East Asian country, and will also involve academic sessions and corporate visits.
Kannada Rajyotsava celebrations at SDMIMD
SDMIMD celebrated the 56th Kannada Rajyotsava in a grand manner on 4th Nov, 2011. In what could be called a fitting tribute to the rich traditions of Karnataka, the celebrations were conducted on SDMIMD’s serene Mysore campus.

The day was started with the ambience created by classics from Kannada songs. The college was decked with the colors of Karnataka – yellow and red. Flowers, balloons, rangolis adorned the campus in line with the cultural heritage. Posters of major personalities and events in Karnataka were placed all over the campus. This aroused the interest of students from 23 other states studying at SDMIMD.

Industry Visit to Rangsons Electronics Pvt. Ltd., Mysore
The students of the ERP course were taken on an Industry visit to Rangsons Electronics in Mysore on November 22, 2011. The visit comprised of an interaction with Mr. Wadiraj, Head-IT and HR at Rangsons Electronics who apprised the students about the ERP system in use and its benefits. This was followed by a visit to the shop floor to see the application of ERP systems on the shop floor. The students were led by their faculty, Prof. Neetu Ganapathy.

SDMIMD is organizing a National Conference on HR at the Modern Workplace during December 16-17, 2011. The conference is expected to bring together academicians, researchers and HR professionals to discuss various contemporary issues related to HR.

International Symposium on “Doing Business in India”

It is proposed to hold a One-day International symposium on the theme “Doing Business in India” on January 9, 2012 at our campus. Dr. Julian Gaspar, Director, Center for International Business Studies & Clinical Professor of Finance, Mays Business School, Texas A&M University, USA and his team of faculty, with the students will participate in this symposium. Leading corporate executives will be the key speakers in the symposium. Further, there will be a Round Table discussion on specific issues. The symposium will also have a student-interaction session involving SDMIMD and Texas A&M students.

The Indian Institute of Materials Management (IIMM), Mumbai has conferred ‘Special Appreciation Award’ to Dr. R. Jagadeesh, Professor – Operations Management. The award is given to the personalities who have supported IIMM’s academic publications by contributing research and technical papers. The award will be presented to Dr. R. Jagadeesh at NATCOM 2011 to be held at New Delhi on December 2, 2011. SDMIMD congratulates Dr. R. Jagadeesh for this award and success in academic endeavour.

Management Development Program takes off at SDMIMD
SDMIMD is conducting a 6-Months General Management Program for Rane (Madras) Limited, Mysore and Kar Mobile Limited, Bangalore for their managers of various functional areas.

The Management Development Program was inaugurated on 12 -11-2011 at 09:00 am by Mr. R. Venkatanarayanan, Executive Vice President – HR, Rane Group. Dr. N. R. Parasuraman, Director, SDMIMD, Mr. K. R. Ramesh, Vice President – Operations, Rane Madras, Mr. T. A. Dayalan, GM – Human Resources, Rane Madras, Mr. B. Ravichandran, Sr. Manager, HR, Kar Mobiles Ltd., Hosur and Dr. H. Gayathri, Professor Marketing, SDMIMD and Program Coordinator graced the occasion.
