Invited talk by Mr. Praveen Kamath

Mr. Praveen Kamath, GM and a Global HR leader, Wipro, candidly indicated to the students as to how one can succeed when they rise to the expectations, in his talk organized on June 18, 2016 in Institute Auditorium. Mr. Kamath strongly emphasized on hard work, and urged the students to stay away from time killers, and time wasters. He advised the students to acquire global certifications, and establish through social networking. He also suggested super specialization in one area to become successful professionals.

Be Passionate, Ready to Change & Challenge – Mr. Arun Nayar

Hailing from military background, Mr. Arun Nayar, Director – HRD, Infrastructure, Facilities and HSE, Safran Engineering Services India, Bangalore, was able to connect with the fresh batch of SDMIMD narrating his experiences off and on the battle filed. Mr. Arun narrated the story behind the growth of Safran Company and their expertise in HiTech areas like aerospace and security systems. He called upon the new batch of PGDM 2016-18 to be passionate about what they do and learn as much as they can, and discouraged blind following of fads or chasing of fancy ideas. He further mentioned about the need to change and challenge to achieve success. The talk was organized on June 18, 2016 at Institute Auditorium. 

Move from ‘Can’ attitude to ‘Will’ attitude – Mr. Vijay Deshpande

Mr. Vijay Deshpande, Vice President – HR, J.K. Tyres, New Delhi, focused on “lead yourself to success and be very successful professionals” in his talk on June 18, 2016 at our Institute auditorium. Mr. Vijay explained the importance of motivation, and suggested different approaches like seeking the help of a mentor, discussing with friends, and listening to good speakers, to the new batch of PGDM 2016-18. He emphasized on moving from “can” attitude to “will” attitude.

Alumni on Campus – Mr. Rakshit S.P

Mr. Rakshit S.P. alumnus of SDMIMD of PGDM 1995-97 and a successful entrepreneur running niche enterprises delivered an invited talk to the new students of SDMIMD on June 17, 2016. Using simple examples, Mr. Rakshith demonstrated how flow measurement with respect to human systems particularly the blood flow is made. He stressed the importance of learning rather just studying. He suggested to students to learn what they want to do and understand what they want to be, and ensure success in the real world.

Customer Satisfaction is the Success Mantra - Mr. Srikanth Bhagavat

Mr. T. Srikanth Bhagavat, Managing Director & Principal Advisor, Hexagon Capital Advisors Pvt. Ltd., Bangalore, delivered invited talk on June 24, 2016 for the PGDM 2016-18. Mr. Srikath emphasized the need for entrepreneurship and explained how he was able to shift to different fields and succeeded in doing business. Sharing his experience, mentioned the importance of satisfying the customers and described the process of improvement through worthy pursuits, enriching conversations, and acquiring fundamental and relevant skills.

Talk by successful entrepreneur Mr. Nagi Rao

Mr. Nagi Rao is a well- established entrepreneur and the Founder of SI Holdings Sysinformation Healthcare India Pvt., Ltd., a company that specializes in back office operations of the US health care industry. Mr. Nagi Rao explained how it is necessary to focus and arrive at an action plan. He emphasized on learning a little about a lot and a lot about a little, so that the person becomes a well groomed professional. He also showed how it is possible to connect with people using the networking tools. The talk was organized as a part of Induction Program for the new batch of PGDM 2016-18 on June 17, 2016 at the Institute Auditorium.

Success Story of Microfinance by Mr. B. Trishuli

As an experienced functionary in the area of Microfinance, Mr. B. Trishuli, Zonal Head – HC (South), Janalakshmi Financial Services, Bangalore, explained the process of lending, and recovery of loans and illustrated the associated risks on June 17, 2016 to the new batch of PGDM 2016-18. Mr. Trishuli narrated the success story of Janalakshmi Financial Services Company and thw work that has gone in behind building up the organization. He also touched upon the extent and reach of the company, and also the methodology of distribution of loans, and recovery.

Orientation Program for PGDM 2016-18

A week long orientation programme for the new batch of PGDM 2016-18 was organized at SDMIMD from 16th June, 2016.  Inaugurating the program on Thursday, June 16, 2016, the Director of the institute, Dr. N. R. Parasuraman briefed the students about the present scenario and the changing trends in the Indian market and the need for latest technology adaptations to face the upcoming global challenges. He called upon the young managers to make best use of the SDMIMD academic and service infrastructure facilities in moulding themselves in becoming successful entrepreneurs / leaders and face the global challenge.
Speaking on the occasion the Deputy Director Dr. H. Gayathri called upon the students to have a dream of high aspiration. Sincerity, commitment, hard work are required to achieve the goal.
 
Dr R. Jagadeesh, Dean-Academics, briefed the new batch of 2016-18 about the academic system including course orientation and grading. The batch has the representation of 20 States from India and One student from Nepal. Prof. S.N. Prasad delivered the welcome address and later gave a brief overview of life at SDMIMDThe week-long programme will conclude on June 23, 2016.

Alumni Meet of Hyderabad Chapter

Refreshing old memories, strengthening linkage with the corporate world, belongingness among group, feel of proud, sharing achievement with beloved teacher, all these packed together at SDMites Alumni Meet held at Lemon Tree Hotel in Hyderabad on Tuesday, June 14, 2016. The Hyderabad Chapter of SDMites enjoyed the memorable moment with Director and Finance teacher Dr. N.R. Parasuraman. ​

2-Day Workshop on Research Methodology

Dr. S.G. Prapulla, Chief Scientist & Head, Microbiology and Fermentation Technology Dept. CSIR-Central Food Technological Research Institute, Mysuru, was the Chief Guest of the valedictory program of the 2- Day Research Methodology workshop scheduled during June 10 & 11, 2016. In her brief address, Dr. Prapulla appreciated the participants for taking up the research projects, and suggested that research improves their ability  to make an impression in their field. She informed the participants about the fellowships available, particularly to the women researchers. She also gave several tips about research work and encouraged the participants to do sustain their research activities and enrich the field. The participants interacted well with the Chief Guest and received valuable inputs from her.
 
Dr. Sunil, the Program Coordinator, prosed a vote of thanks and Dr. R. Jagadeesh, Dean -Academics, presented a memento to the distinguished Chief Guest.
