Expectations from MBA Students – Talk by Alumnus

Mr. Tejasvi Nathan, SDMIMD Alumnus & VP – Global Talent Partner, HR Swiss Re Global Business Solutions India Pvt. Ltd., was invited to address the young managers of PGDM 2022-2024 as part of the Orientation Program on July 8, 2022. Mr. Tejasvi addressed the new batch on ‘Expectations from MBA students – from Corporate Sector’ illustrating the essentials and desirable requirements for different positions for the young manager in the corporate world. The talk helped the batch to plan the roadmap toward enhancing the skills and credentials to meet the corporate requirements. 

Preparing for an ever-changing world! – Talk by Alumnus

SDMIMD Alumnus Mr. N. Ravi Shankar, CEO of Aim High Consulting, delivered an invited talk on “MBA Na Milegi Dubaara! Preparing for an ever-changing world!” on July 8, 2022, as part of the Orientation Program 2022. Mr. Ravi spoke about the need for self-molding with essential personal traits and values to achieve success both in corporate and personal life.  Being a prolific author, Ravi shared the lessons from the Aim Hight PR & Brand exercises and from his personal life. The PGDM 2022-2024 Batch enjoyed the interactive and informative session.

Talk by Alumnus Mr. Vipin Prasad

Mr. Vipin Prasad, SDMIMD Alumnus, and CEO Joining Dots Inc., Bangalore, delivered an informative talk on ‘E-Commerce: Opportunities & Challenges’ on July 7, 2022, as part of the Orientation Program 2022. The talk focused on the developments in the platform business and the various app-based services making the e-commerce world dearer to the consumers.  Mr. Vipin discussed opportunities for young managers in the e-commerce world during the Q&A Session. 

Talk by Alumnus Mr Chitradip Pramanik

SDMIMD Alumnus and Manger – Marketing & PMO, EqualizeRCM, Mysore, Mr. Chitradip Pramanik delivered the talk on ‘Getting ready for the Corporate World’ on July 7, 2022. Mr. Chitradip focused his talk on how the additional skills and certificates during the PGDM program help to stand out in the competitive job market. The talk was organized as part of the Orientation Program 2022. 

Talk on Personal Wealth Management by Alumnus

On September 25, 2021, SDMIMD and Prerana – SDMIMD Alumni Association organized an invtited talk by Mr. Feroze Azeez, PGDM Alumnus 2003-05 Batch; and Deputy CEO, Anand Rathi Private Wealth Management, Mumbai. Mr. Feroze gave insights on personal wealth management and elucidated the different products available in the current market. The online session was interactive and exciting, with the active participation by the alumni members and students on campus. 

New EC for Prerana – SDMIMD Alumni Association

The Executive Council (EC) for the term 2021-2023 was formed by Election process during May 2021. The election officer Prof Malathi Sriram announced the EC during the Annual General Body meeting held on May 8, 2021. 
 
The EC comprised of the Chairman Dr. N.R. Parasuraman, Director, SDMIMD Mysore; Faculty Representative Dr. Sunil M.V., Head – Academic Administration, SDMIMD Mysore; President of Association Mr Niranjan N Naik (Batch 1995-1997); Vice-President Mr Vijay Mane (Batch 1998-2000); Secretary Mr Praveen M G (Batch 1995-1997); Joint-Secretary Mr Kumar Piyush (Batch 2012-2014); Treasurer Ms Padmashree G S (Batch 1996-1998); and the Members – Mr Anil Ram M Adya (Batch 2016-2018); Mr Mayank Jindal (Batch 2011-2013); and, Rohith Kumar Agarwal (Batch 2007-2009).

Webinar on Spend Management in SCP

Mr. Badrinath Waiker, Solution Manager, SAP Ariba, delivered webinar on the topic “Spend management in the context of global supply chain and procurement” to the PGDM 2019-2021 Batch on October 17, 2020. The session revolved around understanding spend management in the context of COVID-19, understanding the importance of Supply chain management, and how technology has transformed the supply chain management process. The session was made more illustrative by Mr. Waiker's real-life corporate examples. Mr. Waiker is an alumnus of SDMIMD.

Webinar by Mr. Asif K.A, Our Alumni

Mr Asif K.A., Second Vice-President, Northern Trust; and alumnus of SDMIMD’s PGDM 2007-09 Batch, was the speaker for the Webinar on topic ‘The New Normal - Making Sense in The VUCA World’ scheduled on July 18, 2020. The session covered different component of VUCA (Vision, Understanding, Clarity, Agility) and how Northern Trust has successfully managed with VUCA 2.0. Mr Asif emphasised the importance of “Agility” for organisations & individuals; and, explained the ‘Learning Agility Framework’. 

Webinar by Mr. Niranjan Naik, Our Alumni

‘Strategic Business Planning’ was the topic for the Webinar scheduled on June 27, 2020 for the PGDM 2019-2021 Batch. The nuances of strategic business planning with live cases and examples was explained by the speaker Mr Niranjan Naik, National Sales Head - Energy and Building Solutions, Bosch India Ltd; and, President, Prerana – SDMIMD Alumni Association; alumnus of PGDM 1995-97.

Talk by Mr. Pramod Padmaprabhaiah

SDMIMD organized a talk by alumnus Mr Pramod Padmaprabhaiah as part of the Prerana Alumni Lecture Series on November 25, 2019.  Mr Pramod is currently working with NTT Data Services as Global Enterprise Applications Leader.
 
In his talk, Mr Pramod presented the concept of ‘Gig Economy’ and explained how small activities become a part of Gig Economy extending a monetary benefit. Mr Pramod mentioned that scaling some activities in terms of monetary value can be a complex task at times and the law-making bodies find it difficult to make policies for these. It is believed that 2023 over 6 million people will be a part of the Gig Economy. The speaker explained how Bloggers, Youtubers, Craftspeople, Stack photographers, Freelancers, Software and Web designers constitute and influence Gig Economy. Further, he touched upon the characteristics of the Gig economy with examples of ‘Kaggle’ and ‘Amazon Mechanical Turk’.  The talk concluded with the discussion on the four major connections in the Gig Economy i.e. Place, Routines, Purpose and People.
