Advice to Young Managers by Mr. V. Ramasubramanian

Mr. V. Ramasubramanian, DGM-HR, Rane Holdings, Chennai, delivered a talk on “HR Transformation: the Challenge Continues” on June 18, 2014.  The talk was blended with real-life examples and gave an overall picture of current HR challenges. He opined ‘HR can play an important role in facilitating a win-win relationship with associates and employees by aligning the business goals of the organization with the life goals of the employees (and not the other way round!)’. 

Alumnus on Campus – Mr. N. Ravi Shankar

SDMIMD alumnus N Ravi Shankar, Founder & CEO of Aim High Consulting, addressed the new batch of PGDM 2014-16 on June 17, 2014. In his talk, to the students, he underscored the point ‘to chase success not money’. He narrated his experiences and said this principle has helped him all along.

Guest talk by Mr. N. Ramanuja

Mr. N. Ramanuja, Former CMD, HMT and Chairman, BVB (Bharatiya Vidya Bhawan), Karnataka stated ‘Management does not mean only attending classes and wearing suits. Many elements of management can be seen in our own experiences’. Also, lessons and texts on management can be drawn from the Internet in this modern era. But what is more important here is that students should learn culture and humility in this prestigious Institute.  He shared his experience at HMT and educational service through BVB. 

Keynote Address by Mr. K.B. Ganapathy

Mr. K.B. Ganapathy, Editor-in-Chief, Star of Mysore, was the Chief Guest and delivered the keynote address for the week-long induction program planned for the fresh batch of PGDM 2014-16 on June 17, 2014 at the Institute auditorium. In his keynote address, he stressed on leadership qualities, work culture, responsibility towards the organization and the lifelong learning.  Further he asked the students to make the best use of their stint at SDMIMD and carve out a glorious professional career for themselves. Dr. H. Gayathri, Deputy Director, SDMIMD, made introductory remarks about the goals that students should have for themselves during this period.  . 

Induction Program – Inauguration

The inaugural session of the Induction Program for the PGDM 2014-16 Batch was held on June 16, 2014. Prof. S. Prabhakar, Honorable Secretary, SDM Educational Trust, inaugurated the program as per tradition by lighting the lamp. While addressing the new batch, Prof. Prabhakar introduced the philosophy and services of Dharmasthala and the Trust. Further he said ‘with the rapid development of the Indian economy, the industrial and the corporate sectors are offering challenging opportunities to management personnel, and the need for well qualified and talented management executives is keenly felt. To seize these opportunities, students of Management institutes have to equip themselves with all the facets of Management subjects and develop confidence to take up the daunting tasks they are expected to perform when they step into the Management profession’.  Dr. N.R. Parasuraman, Director, SDMIMD told the students about the values they should seek to gain in the ensuing two years and Prof. S.N. Prasad delivered the welcome address. 

The Business Landscape Course

A Business Landscape course was recently conducted for the PGDM 13-15 Batch. The course was designed to sensitize the students to general awareness topics of contemporary interest and also to the broad vistas of strategy and leadership.  Separate sessions were included on analysis of companies and statistical techniques.

SDMites emerge as Winners in CURA 2014 Fest

Mr. Gaurav Kar and Mr. Mohit Behal of PGDM 13-15 have won First Position in Ad Design and Management Extempore events respectively. The events were organized as a part of CURA 2014 – the all India annual management fest of Future Institute of Engineering and Management, Kolkata. They have won the Management Quiz organized as a part of CURA 2014.  

Books and Computer donated to Sunanda School

To inculcate reading habit among the school children, SDMIMD has initiated a program to mobilize books that would be useful to children (of 1st class to 10th class) to be gifted to Government Schools, As a part of the process, the institute also donated computers to the Sunanda School.
