Circulation

The key service of Library is email alerts and cLibraryulation of documents. The cLibraryulation policy of Library clearly defines the previleges and services to different types of users categorized among SDMIMD Community. Users must produce a valid institute identity card which acts as library card / borrower's card also. The Head of Library may extend the services to any other category of users as required from time to time and also reserves the right to restrict or deny the use of any of its facilities, resources and services to any authorised user(s) in order to maintain appropriate levels of service.
 
The entire Library collection consisting of books, journals, magazines, annual reports and audio-visual material are available for borrowing. The reference collection including Harvard corner, costly books, classics and other special collection are available to borrow on overnight basis.

General rules
 
  • The Institute ID card which acts as 'Library Card' should be produced at the time of borrowing the document.
  • After entering the users details in the 'Book Card' the borrowing items should be handed over to in-charge at Circulation Counter in person for issuing the same.
  • Reference resources such as text books, audio-visual materials, journal/magazine issue(s), Harvard corner collection, annual reports will be issued on overnight basis.
  • Reminders would be sent to the users for overdue items.
  • The identity of the person who has borrowed a particular resource will not be revealed to the other users.
  • Pending fines for each user will be submitted to the Accounts department on a monthly basis for further action
  • Resources can be reserved only when they are on loan and not when they are available.
  • The availability of the reserved item would be informed through e-mail.
  • The reserved resource should be collected from Library within 24 hours after intimation, otherwise the reservation stands cancelled.
  • Loss / Damage : Any loss or damage to the borrowed documents is to be replaced within 30 days at user cost. If the user fails to replace the item, the Library will purchase and charge the actual cost of the resource plus 30% towards the replacement charge depending on the type of the resource.
