Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade, Dharmadikari of Srikshetra Dharmasthala and Chairman, SDM Educational Trust, along with 25 other luminaries, including Dr A P J Abdul Kalam, Justice Hegde and Anna Hazare were honoured by Sitaram Jindal Foundation with the Jindal Prize and S R Jindal Prize at a glittering felicitation ceremony held at New Delhi on Thursday February 23, 2012.

| SDMIMD Wins Overall championship in Amrita school of Business |

Students of SDMIMD won the overall championship trophy in Pragati 2012 - A management fest held in Amrita School of Business, Coimbatore on 3rd and 4th February. The following is the list of winners of different events. Systems Event by Chirag Ghiya & Swosti Panda (1st Prize);Marketing Event by Ragunandan V R, Sowmya B & Sanjay S (1st Prize);HR Event by Amulya Kulkarni & Seema (1st Prize);Finance Event by Rahul Jain, Sunil M & Sanjay S (2nd Prize);Operation Event by Vibhu Tyagi, Pooja Saxena & Sagar Bajpai (2nd Prize). |

| SDMites won Impressa and Dwandwa competition at IFMR, Chennai |
|
Students from SDMIMD participated in the Debate competition - Dwandwa and B Plan Event - Impressa organized by IFMR, Chennai on 4th Feb 2012. Manu Govind and Nikita Ajwani of PGDM 11-13 won the second place in Dwandwa – which included series of elimination round. Another team from PGDM Batch 10-12 comprising of Vikram Arora and Aroon Sheshadri participated in Dwandwa and Vikram Arora won 'Best Interjector' Award. SDMites also won a consolation prize in the ‘Impressa’ event. The team consisted of - Vinay Bothra, P. N. Rameez, Parth Poddar, Rohit Roy and Siddhi Agrawal of PGDM 11-13. |

SDMites won an OVERALL Championship at Kurukshetra 2012 – the B-School Management Event organized by Manipal Institute of Management, Manipal on February 13 and 14, 2012. The success achieved by PGDM 11-13 Batch in the several events in Kuruskshetra 2012 has contributed to the overall championship for SDMIMD. The events included the Off Rodies won by Elizabeth Betsy Joy; Finance Event by Mayank Jindal & Soumya M V; the runners-up of the HR Event Riteshsingh Rathore & Shashank Pote and IT Event Ashiq Nk & Rahul M K. and also extraordinary efforts of participants Marketing by Binit Kumar Jha, Nirnay Prakhar, Priyanka Prashad & Vijeth Anburmath; Best CEO by Jacob Thomas; B-Plan by Aseem A Kabir, Jayakrishnan Nair, Kaushik S & Vinay Kalal; B-Quiz by Sahil Sinha & Pankaj Naik; HR: Brunda M & Shwetha K B. All these awards culminated into the Overall Championship. |

The event involved a series of elimination round by the Brand Managers of Mahindra & Mahindra. ‘Mahindra Rise : Syed - The Newspaper Boy’, a marketing campaign created by Mr. Praveen Sharma and Ms. Pooja Mishra of PGDM 2010-12 on Mahindra's latest 'Rise' Campaign. |

Mr.Niranjan
Educational Qualification : BE ( Mechanical Engg) from Bangalore University, PGDBM (SDM-IMD) Marketing 95-97 batch.
Current Designation: Head of Marketing for Asia Pacific Region ( Lawn and Garden tools) stationed at Shanghai from Aug'2011 onwards.
Mr.Niranjan has a total industry experience of 18 years working in diverse industries such as Steel, Automotive and Consumer durables in Production, Quality, Sales and Marketing. Started his career with 4 years experience in Production and implementation of Quality/TQM systems to Bhorukha group companies from 1992 to 1995. From 1995 onwards took a two year sabbatical to complete his PGDBM with specialization in Marketing and Finance from SDM-IMD. Mr.Niranjan topped the class with a Gold medal in marketing and went on to work for Bosch India through campus placements at their Marketing department in the Automotive accessories division and has been working since then till date at Bosch. At Bosch India Ltd he worked as a Brand Manager in their Automotive accessories division responsible for identifying and launching a range of Bosch products for the 4 and 2 wheeler markets. From 2002 to 2007 moved into International sales for handling Original Equipment and After market sales for Middle East Africa and SAARC countries. He played a major role in opening new markets in the MEA region and for launching and getting orders for a range of Automotive products.
After a stint at International sales moved into as a Country Manager in Bosch Power tools division from 2008 onwards, responsible for launching a New range of Lawn and Garden tool products in India. Mr.Niranjan was responsible for creating a market for Do it yourself ( DIY) range of Bosch high pressure washers in India where the market share of Bosch has been more than 50% and Bosch brand continues to be the market leader. With the successful launch of High pressure washers a range of garden tool products from Bosch has been launched to cater to the home garden segment in the Indian market. Hither to this Garden tools used in home were mainly manual tools which are still popular. Additionally was also responsible for sales of Power Tools in SAARC countries and as a Country Manager for Dremel - hobby tools for the DIY market from 2010 onwards.

| PRATIGAM 2012 - Alumni meet |

4th February 2012, Saturday, was the date for SDMIMD alumni meet at the Koramangala Club, in Bangalore. PRATIGAM the alumni meet had around 85-90 alumni gracing the occasion.
The Koramangala Club was all set and geared up for the arrival of the SDMIMD alumni. The meet commenced by observing a 30-second silence in remembrance of Mr. Anil Jagadish of the 2007-09 batch, who passed away recently due to a brief illness. Prof. Malathi Sriram, Chairperson, Alumni Committee condoled the departed soul.
Later, Prof. Malathi Sriram welcomed the gathering and gave a brief account on recent alumni activities. Prof. N.R. Parasuraman, Director, shared the achievements of the Institute. Alumnus shared their memories and their professional achievements. This was followed by the views from various alumni to strengthen the Alumni-Institute bond. |

| 4th BRICS Students' Meet |
As part of 4th BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) Students Meet - India, SDMIMD as a member of Association of BRICS Business Schools (ABBS), hosted the 4th BRICS Students' Meet on 16th February 2012 and the events included invited talk by Dr. R. Ravichandran, Secretary General, Indo-Latin American Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Chennai on the topic "Indo-Brazil Bilateral Partnership and Synergies" and followed by interactive programs and a mix of cultural and fun activities. Dr. N.R. Parasuraman, Director, SDMIMD welcomed the gathering and Dr. R. Jagadeesh synchronized the event.

| Workshop on Statistical Analysis of Research Data |

The Hands-on Workshop on “Statistical Analysis of Research Data” was held during February 8 & 9, 2012 at SDMIMD Mysore. Dr S Ravi from Department of Statistics, University of Mysore, inaugurated the workshop and delivered the Keynote address on “Significance of Statistics in Social Sciences”. Dr Ravi called on Researchers to give adequate importance while understanding a problem, defining objectives and connect themselves deeply with the dynamics of Society, while collecting the research data. Earlier, Dr N.R. Parasurman, Director of the Institute welcomed the participants. The researchers are expected to be benefited with a wide variety of advanced statistical techniques in Microsoft Excel and to move further by using freeware add-in. Prof. R. Amruthavalli, Faculty, Center for Information Science and Technology (CIST), University of Mysore, Mysore; Dr. J. Balaji, Professor - Quantitative Methods, SDMIMD, Mysore and Dr. Srilakshminarayana, Professor - Statistics, SDMIMD, Mysore were the resource persons. Mr. Sunil M.V., Librarian was the Coordinator.

A workshop on Public Speaking was conducted on Saturday, February 11, 2012 for the first year students. Mr. Haris, HR Consultant from SPI conducted the workshop. He was assisted by Mr. Sagar from the Palace City Toastmasters Club.

"Health Awareness and Surya Namaskara" was imparted to 6th and 7th standard students of Govt Sr Hr Pr School (KARP Body Guard Line) numbering about 100 on 25.02.2012, 8.30 a.m. onwards at the Institute Wellness Center. The children were accompanied by Head Master and few Teachers. The event commenced with Lighting of Lamp before Lord Shri Manjunatha Swamy. Ms. Nagaveni, Governing Council Member of the School, Mr. Parshivamurthy, President, Governing Council of the School, Mr. Javare Gowda, Head Master were present on the occasion. |

Campus life has a flavor to it that is far more memorable than most other life experiences. Not surprisingly, this flavor most often emanates from the cafeteria over coffee and food with dear friends. In a bid to leave a lingering fragrance in the minds of the graduating batch, their juniors at SDMIMD, Mysore, have arranged a 15-day food festival of 15 states on its campus. The institute has students from 21 different states studying there. |
Farewell for PGDM 10-12 Batch was held on Feb 25th, 2012 at the Institute campus. The seniors and juniors were performed various events which includes dancing, singing followed by a DJ. |
It was indeed enthralling performance by our dear Basket Ball Boys during the lovely evening on 18 February 2012, Saturday. First year Boys won the match 32:20. The four quarter (8 minutes each) match was well monitored by Abhi, Shravan and Hemanth (NIE). Big thanks to SDM IMD audience and special thanks to Dr LN for being there and cheering the players. |

The 17th Annual Convocation of the Institute will be held at 3:00 PM on March 22, 2012. Padma Bhushan Shri. S. Ramadorai, Vice-Chairman, Tata Consultancy Services Limited and Advisor to the Prime Minister in the National Skill Development Council will be the Chief Guest and will deliver the convocation address. The Chairman of SDMIMD Padma Bhushan Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade will preside over the function.
