A week long orientation programme for the new batch of PGDM 2016-18 was organized at SDMIMD from 16th June, 2016. Parasuraman briefed the students about the present scenario and the changing trends in the Indian market and the need for latest technology adaptations to face the upcoming global challenges. The students of SDMIMD extended monetary support to Nireekshe (Day Care and Activity Centre for Special Children) and MDPAEDD (Mysore District Parents Association for Empowering Developmentally Disabled) on June 8, 2016. The monetary support was for meeting the needs of learning materials for the special children.

A Business Landscape course for PGDM 15-17 batch commenced on June 6, 2016. The course has been designed to sensitize the students to general awareness topics of contemporary interest and also to the broad vistas of strategy and leadership. Separate sessions for this week long program are scheduled which includes discussions on analysis of companies, data science, and International trade & relationship. The panel discussion on topics relate to economy, fiscal policy, government initiatives, startups, and employment, Having a faculty expert and student volunteers as panel members will bring in different dimensions for discussion.

The week-long orientation program for the new batch of PGDM 2016-18 concluded with a visit to Dharmasthala on June 19 & 20, 2016. The two-day trip was packed with visits to Shanthivana, Ratnamanasa, Bahubali Hill, Vintage Car Museum, Manjusha Museum and Dharshan of Lord Manjunatheshwara, the main deity of Dharmasthala. Students enjoyed the traditional hospitality and food in Dharmasthala. The students were introduced to the administration and management of the holy place by Sri D. Harshendra Kumar, Honarable Secretary, SDM Educational Trust.

The event started with invocation by Ms. Mallika of first batch (1994-96) of PGDM Program and the welcome address by Mr. Rakshit from the same batch. Dr. N.R. Parasuraman, Director of the Institute addressed the gathering and gave a cursory overview about the recent development at SDMIMD. Dr. H. Gayathri, Deputy Director and Chairperson of Alumni Committee highlighted the need of alumni collaboration and strengthening of alumni association at local level.

Mr. Harinath and Mr. Arun Padaki from PGDM 1995-97 proposed the agenda and activities of Alumni-Bengaluru Chapter.

The vote of thanks was presented by Mr. Vijay Kumar of PGDM 1999-2000. The Master of Ceremony Ms. Susheema from first batch of PGDM program recalled the memories at SDMIMD while anchoring the event. ​

Refreshing old memories, strengthening linkage with the corporate world, belongingness among group, feel of proud, sharing achievement with beloved teacher, all these packed together at SDMites Alumni Meet held at Lemon Tree Hotel in Hyderabad on Tuesday, June 14, 2016. The Hyderabad Chapter of SDMites enjoyed the memorable moment with Director and Finance teacher Dr. N.R. Parasuraman. ​

Dr. S.G. Prapulla, Chief Scientist & Head, Microbiology and Fermentation Technology Dept. CSIR-Central Food Technological Research Institute, Mysuru, was the Chief Guest of the valedictory program of the 2- Day Research Methodology workshop scheduled during June 10 & 11, 2016.

In her brief address, Dr. Prapulla appreciated the participants for taking up the research projects, and suggested that research improves their ability to make an impression in their field. She informed the participants about the fellowships available, particularly to the women researchers. She also gave several tips about research work and encouraged the participants to do sustain their research activities and enrich the field. The participants interacted well with the Chief Guest and received valuable inputs from her.

Dr. Sunil, the Program Coordinator, prosed a vote of thanks and Dr. R. Jagadeesh, Dean -Academics, presented a memento to the distinguished Chief Guest.

College of Engineering, Mandya, Karnataka, under the Technical Education Quality Improvement Program.

Dr. Srilakshminarayana.G was invited as Resource person to deliver the invited talk on Research data analysis on June 7, 2016 at Vivekananda Institute for Leadership Development, Mysuru (V-LEAD).
