Ms. Ranjani Madhavan, Marketing Excellence Leader, 3M, Switzerland and alumna of the institute addressed the marketing students of the institute through Skype on July 20, 2016.

After illustrating the value creation from marketing with help of some international cases, Ms. Ranjani helped the participants understand the different job profiles related to marketing domain. She also shared many tips with the students regarding how to prepare for a marketing career.

Mr Suraj Shetty spoke on his real time experience in the professional world after graduating from SDMIMD. He emphasized the requirement to learn and understand themes in areas beyond one's specialization. He also provided insights on the steps required to become a high performer in organizations. These include acquiring leadership skills, cultivating patience, developing a sense of professional and social responsibility.

On Saturday July 2, 2016, the first year students attended a program on Toastmasters International. The session was meant to create awareness for Toastmasters International and explain how it can help to improve their communication and leadership skills.

Toastmaster Rohit Koka, President of Mysore City Toastmasters addressed the students and told them how effective communication can provide a competitive edge in their career. Toastmaster Yashaswi from L & T Mysore, the Area Director, explained about the functioning of a Toastmasters club and its many benefits.

Toastmaster Arjun P. S., the President of the SDMIMD Toastmasters club informed the students about the club and its activities and provided information on to become a Toastmaster. Toastmaster Poovendhiran, the past Area Director from SPI was present. The program was compered by Toastmaster Abhijith of the SDMIMD Toastmasters club.

It was an experiential sharing for an HR Professional and great learning for HR specialization SDMites of PGDM 2015-17 batch on Saturday, July 30, 2016. The interactive session on ‘HR Strategies’ lead by Mr. Praveen Kamath, General Manager - Human Resources, Wipro Limited. The discussion covered recruitment career options for HR, Succession planning, Role of an OD practitioner, Changing Performance Culture, Organizational dynamics in the context of emerging countries. The session concluded with Q&A and discussions on the topics covered.

SDMIMD and CII’s youth wing Young Indians jointly organized an interactive session on 'IT industries & infrastructure in Mysuru - a cohesive move' on July 15, 2016 at our campus.

Mr. Sid Mookerji, Global CEO and Co-founder, Software Paradigms International (SPI), Mr. Bhaskar Kalale, Convenor - IT Panel, CII Mysuru, Mr. N. Muthukumar, Chairman, CII Mysuru and Dr. H Gayathri, Deputy Director of SDMIMD were the panel members. The discussions centred around the infrastructural facilities in Mysore and ways of improving things. The audience consisted of representatives from CII, the youth wing, faculty and students of SDMIMD and a cross section of the public.

A one-day Management Development Program (MDP) on Managing Difficult Customers was held at SDMIMD on July 27, 2016. In the workshop the sessions were conducted on the role of perception and personality in handling customers. The resource persons were Dr. Mousumi Sengupta, and Prof. R. Sugant, faculty of SDMIMD. They discussed tools such as emotional intelligence in dealing with difficult customers in the sessions. ​

​Considering that public speaking is one of the most important skills for educators, which is put to test each day, a one-day workshop on Public Speaking and Presentation Skills was organzied for educators on July 29, 2016 at SDMIMD. Participants were taken through sessions that enabled them to understand the mechanics of speaking. Dr. Neetu Ganapathy resource person of the workshop provided inputs on how to sustain interest and how to effectively handle questions. The workshop was well received by the participants. Dr. N. R. Parasuraman, Director of the institute inaugurated the workshop. Prof. Malathi Sriram, Coordinator of the workshop welcomed the participants.

The seminar on ‘Stress Management Technology’ was organized in association with Vijay Foundation Mysuru, on Wednesday, July 20, 2016 in SDMIMD Auditorium.

International Memory Trainer Dr. B.K. Chandrashekhar, popularly known as 'Invisible Doctor'; Sage and Scientist Dr. Krishna Madappa known as Modern Day Alchemist; Dr. B.R. Pai the Founder & Chairman of Vijay Group of Companies; delivered the talk on the seminar theme. General public and invites participated in the interactive session with the speaker followed by the talks.

SDMites have taken a socially responsible initiative to gift a library to the young minds of Government Adarsha Vidyalaya (High School) in Jockey Quarters, Mysore. The 'Library Initiative For Education at School' in short 'LIFE at School' has team comprising of Ms. Shushma Chengappa, Mr. Narendran V and Mr. B. Chiranjeevi from PGDM 2015-17 and Mr. Anil Ram Adya, Mr. Sanjeev, Ms. Sanjana, Ms. Nayana Singh, Ms. Swetha, Ms. Pooja, Mr. Priyesh, and Ms. Meghana from PGDM 2016-17 started this initiative. The initiative kick-off on Monday, August 1, 2016, by collecting and moving 1300+ books donated by Ramakrishna Vidyashala, Mysuru to this initiative. The team started classifying the books. Khoj - the talent search festival of SDMites is a platform to for the new batch of PGDM to showcase their aptitude. Kohj 2016 was organized on July 18, 2016 to identify talent among the freshers through various competitions and to formally welcome them to student committees of the Institute.
