| Workshop on Literature Review |
|
| A systematic and comprehensive Literature Review is the foundation for a good research. A research will be ‘Good’ only when it advances our collective understanding on the research field. The collective understanding is possible with understanding the literature in the field. With this understanding the Two-Day Hands-On Workshop on Literature Review will be held on December 19 & 20, 2013 at our campus.

| FDP on Core Electives in Finance |

| With an objective to drive the best teaching practices and impart the most suitable pedagogical approaches while delivering the lectures on Securities Analysis & Portfolio Management (SAPM) and Financial Derivatives, a two-day FDP on 'Core Electives in Finance' is being organized at SDMIMD Mysore on December 27-28, 2013. The program will be run by resource persons comprising of an eclectic and highly competent Faculty of SDMIMD in the area of Finance. VITTA, which means finance is a life blood of every business activity or it can be said that all the business activities revolve on the VITTA AKSH (finance axis).This event encompasses all the activities that enhances the understanding of financial activities. A finance manager should be a master of all those activities i.e. from understanding the financial status of a business to managing a portfolio, from trading to cost management.

Our world is built on ideas. Ms. Lekshmi Bhargavi, HR at Toyota Financial Services, an alumnus of SDMIMD, thus started her speech while she addressed the first year PGDM batch here on 16th November, 2013. Ms. Lekshmi gave an insight into how a case study should be analyzed and how to form the solutions, how to make presentations and the importance of self-branding. More emphasis was laid on the integrity to be followed at the workplace.

| MoU with British University Dubai (BUiD) |
|
SDMIMD while meeting Value Proportion in Branding has entered Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with British University - Dubai with effect from November 2013. With this MoU, arrangements have been set for student exchange for a full term or a portion thereof, faculty exchange, and, special short-duration programs for students.

A Text Book with a difference, covering basic tenets of finance, appropriate and friendly to MBA Students, Finance Professionals and Non Finance Managers, "Financial Management: A Step-by- Step Approach" is authored by Dr. N.R. Parasuraman Director & Professor in Finance SDMIMD. The book has been published by Cengage Learning India Pvt. Ltd., New Delhi. Earlier, Dr. N.R.Parasuraman has also authored “Fundamentals of Financial Derivatives”, which is ranked among the Top 10 Management Books by Business Standard in the year 2009 and it is widely read by students in pursuit of management education. |

Mr Deepak Nesarikar of PGDM Student is one among the six winners in a National level B School competition organized by ABP Pvt Ltd. Kolkata. Mr Nesarikar's article "Empowerment & Social Businesses" was adjudged one among top six papers by Talent Partner KPMG India and will be published in IFLA 2013 Compendium. |

Kalanubhav - a student body of SDMIMD organized a violin concert by Vidwan H. K. Narasimha Murthy on Monday, November 18, 2013 at 4:30 PM. Vidwan HKN was accompanied with Shri H.S. Sudheendra on the Mridanga and Shri G.S. Ramanujan on Ghatam. The cultural event was open for public. Kalanubhav - is a student committee with the objective of propagating all forms of Indian art to the students of the Institute. |

| Kannada Rajyothsava Celebration |

| Festive look and activities made it different to SDMIMD Campus on 15th November 2013, Friday. The day was fixed to celebrate Kannada Rajyotsava. Chappara, Maavina Torana, Rangoli, posters and pictures of eminent personalities gave perfect scene for the occasion which gave a different look to the Mess and surrounding areas.SDMites enjoyed the state’s traditional food during lunch. It was a treat for non kannadigas too, as they took part in singing kannada songs and fun games. The students enthralled the crowd at Basket Ball Court with songs and dance. Motor Cycle stunt by Mr. Ahmed was a thrill to watch. |

"The blood you donate gives someone another chance at life". SDMites are always seen coming forward with great enthusiasm, to address social issues whenever the situations call for the same. Sunday, 17th November 2013, was a day with difference at Institute's Wellness Center, as students as many as 61 in number donated their blood to the Medical Team from Rotary Chandrakala Hospital Mysore. |

| 150th Birth Year Celebrations of Swami Vivekananda |

“The country can see a radical change if the youth advocated the principles and philosophy of Swami Vivekananda”, thus opined the Social Activist Chakravarthy Soolibele. He was speaking at the 150th Year Birthday Celebration of Swami Vivekananda held on November 16, 2013. Presiding over the function Swami Nirmalanandanathaji of Adhichunchanagiri Mutt said ‘Science should be understood in a religious background to analyze the facts better’. He also stressed upon a point that criticisms should be fact based and never should be impulsive and irrational. Later, Dr. K Chidananda Gowda Former Vice Chancellor Kuvempu University also spoke on the occasion.
