OBT for Workplace Learning and Development (WLD) Students
The Outbound Training Program (OBT) for students of Workplace Learning and Development (WLD) was conducted on 7–8 August 2026 at LEAD College, Palakkad. Designed as an experiential learning initiative, the program served as a vital bridge between classroom learning and the development of real-world workplace competencies. The program featured a diverse range of individual and team-based experiential activities, including trekking, adventure exercises, mental challenges, and strategic team tasks. The individual activities encouraged students to confront personal fears, push beyond their comfort zones, enhance self-confidence, and develop mental resilience. The mental-challenge activities further stimulated critical thinking, decision-making, problem-solving, adaptability, and the
ability to remain composed under pressure. Team-based activities fostered teamwork, leadership, trust-building, mutual support, role clarity, and effective communication.
Through these carefully designed experiences, students were encouraged to make decisions in challenging situations, collaborate with peers, assume leadership roles, support one another, and overcome both mental and physical challenges. By the end of the program, students demonstrated enhanced self-awareness, greater confidence, stronger collaborative skills, improved resilience, and a deeper understanding of individual and group dynamics. The learning gained through the OBT is directly applicable to navigating complex and uncertain workplace situations and contributes significantly to both professional effectiveness and personal growth. The OBT forms an integral component of the Workplace Learning and Development (WLD) course offered by Dr. L. Gandhi, Associate Professor – OB & HRM,
SDMIMD.
