FDP on Blending Minds and Machines: Practical AI Strategies for Effective Classroom Delivery and Case Facilitation

Program Overview
This one-day Faculty Development Program brings together undergraduate and postgraduate faculty members to explore the transformative potential of Artificial Intelligence in higher education. Set against the backdrop of rapidly evolving pedagogical landscapes, the program offers a hands-on, practitioner-oriented experience designed to bridge the gap between human intelligence and AI-powered tools in classroom settings. Participants will gain practical skills in AI-enhanced teaching, learn to craft AI-assisted case studies, and _ develop competencies for facilitating engaging, AI-supported case discussions. The program is structured into four focused sessions, combining conceptual frameworks with experiential learning, and is delivered by experienced faculty members from SDMIMD.

Program Objectives

At the end of this program, participants will be able to:

  1. Understand the complementary relationship between human intelligence and AI, and apply this understanding to enrich classroom teaching effectiveness.
  2. Design AI-blended lesson plans and instructional strategies suitable for undergraduate and postgraduate classrooms.
  3. Develop high-quality, contextually relevant case studies with the assistance of AI tools, suitable for management and professional education.
  4. Facilitate structured, AI-supported case discussions that promote critical thinking and active student engagement.
  5. Build confidence and competence in adopting AI-enhanced pedagogical practices as part of a future-ready teaching approach.

Resource Persons
Dr. Sunil M.V., is a Faculty in the area of Systems and General Management with over two decades of experience. He has contributed to academia and research in his area of expertise. As the former coordinator for SDM RCMS at SDMIMD, he significantly advanced the PhD program and promoted a research-oriented culture.
 
Dr. Mamta Hegde has completed her post-graduation from Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalay, Indore. Doctor of Philosophy in Corporate Leadership from Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belagavi. She is an alumnus of Indian Institute of management, Indore. Dr. Mamta Hegde has a considerable year of experience in corporate and near to two decades years of academic experience. She has worked with various prestigious management institutes.

SDMIMD–BCIC Study Highlights Pathways to Accelerate Net-Zero Transition

SDMIMD, Mysore, in collaboration with Bangalore Chambers of Industry and Commerce (BCIC), Karnataka, undertook the research titled “Multi-Sector Empirical & Bibliometric Study on Advancing Sustainability to Accelerate Net-Zero.” The study was executed by Dr. Sunil M.V., Faculty - Systems and General Management, SDMIMD, and Dr. Mousumi Sengupta, Dean - International Relations & Professor - HRM & OB, SDMIMD. 
 
The report was released at the BCIC Conclave on “Advancing Sustainability: Collaboration and Innovation to Accelerate Net-Zero” held in Bengaluru on May 14, 2026.
 
A central insight emerging from the study is that achieving net-zero goals requires an integrated approach involving technology adoption, collaborative governance, circular economy models, and disciplined management of Scope 3 supply-chain emissions.

31st Annual Convocation

Mysuru, April 8, 2026: The 31st Annual Convocation of Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Institute for Management Development (SDMIMD) was held on campus, where 230 students of the PGDM 2024–26 batch were awarded their diplomas.
 
Gold Medals were presented by Chief Guest Dr. Rajendra Srivastava to Ms. Ananya Prakash (Finance), Ms. Smriti S. Anand (HR), Ms. Javeriya Tabassum (Marketing & Operations), and Mr. Amith M. Kamath (Systems). In addition, two prestigious awards—the Chairman’s Gold Medal for overall academic excellence and the Ankur Gupta Memorial Gold Medal for overall best performance—were presented to Ms. Javeriya Tabassum and Mr. Amith M. Kamath, respectively.
 
In his address, Dr. Srivastava highlighted the importance of leadership, continuous learning, and taking calculated risks. Shri D. Surendrakumar, who presided over the event, encouraged graduates to embrace lifelong learning and adapt to a rapidly evolving global and technological landscape.
 
A video message from Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade was presented. Dr. (Lt. Col.) Prasad S. N. delivered the Annual Report. The ceremony was attended by board members, faculty, students, and parents, marking a proud milestone for the graduating class.

Workshop on Mind to Momentum Activating Your Personality Edge

In March 2026, Dr. Mousumi Sengupta facilitated the "Mind to Momentum: Activating Your Personality Edge" workshop, providing PGDM students with a transformative framework for professional growth. The workshop was 
 
focused on the critical transition from self-discovery to execution, demonstrating how individual character traits can be strategically harnessed as a "Personality Edge" to create significant career velocity.
 
By replacing abstract theory with actionable strategies, the workshop successfully bridged the gap between mindset and movement. Through targeted activation exercises, students learned to convert personal drivers into a competitive advantage, equipping the next generation of leaders with the tools necessary for authentic, high-impact professional momentum.

SDMIMD Awarded Prestigious BSIS Label by EFMD Global

SDMIMD has successfully completed the Business School Impact System (BSIS) assessment and has been awarded the prestigious BSIS Label. SDMIMD is currently the second institution in India to receive this recognition.

The BSIS assessment is a comprehensive and holistic evaluation framework that measures a business school’s impact across seven key dimensions, reflecting its contribution to stakeholders, society, and the broader ecosystem. These dimensions include Financial, Educational, Business Development, Intellectual, Impact within the Regional Ecosystem, Societal Impact, and Image Impact.

The BSIS Label reaffirms SDMIMD’s commitment to creating meaningful and measurable impact across these areas. This achievement stands as a testament to the collective efforts of the institute’s faculty, students, alumni, and stakeholders, who continuously strive to create sustained value.

SDMIMD’s PGDM Program Reaccredited by EFMD for Five Years

Recognizing the quality of management education and the strong focus on internationalization at Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Institute for Management Development (SDMIMD), Mysuru, the global accreditation body European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD) has reaccredited SDMIMD’s flagship Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) program for a further period of five years from 2026.

It may be recalled that the PGDM program was first accredited by EFMD in 2017 for three years, followed by renewals in 2020 and 2023, each for a period of three years.

Notably, SDMIMD was the first Indian B-school to receive this prestigious accreditation in 2017, placing the institute prominently on the global map of quality management education.

With this renewed recognition, the institute aims to further strengthen its international collaborations, academic partnerships, and joint research initiatives, leveraging the global network of EFMD-accredited institutions worldwide.

AACSB International Visit to SDMIMD: Insights on Accreditation & iSER Progress

Shri Pratap Das, Regional Head, South Asia, AACSB International, visited SDMIMD on 27 March 2026 and interacted with the faculty team, offering a comprehensive overview of the AACSB accreditation process. He explained the various stages, key requirements, and best practices, while outlining the current status of SDMIMD following the acceptance of its Initial Self Evaluation Report (iSER). The session featured an engaging Q&A segment, during which faculty members raised queries on accreditation standards, assurance of learning, documentation, and strategic alignment; Shri Das addressed these with detailed explanations and practical insights. During the visit, he formally handed over the AACSB membership certificate to the Director, Lt. Col. Dr. S. N. Prasad. He also shared information about upcoming AACSB conferences and avenues for academic collaboration. The meeting was attended by the Director along with faculty members, who actively participated throughout. Shri Das appreciated the institution’s efforts and congratulated the SDMIMD team on their commendable progress in the accreditation journey.

Students Lead with Innovative Ideas at Vision Mysuru–2050 Grand Finale

Mysuru, March 24, 2026: The Grand Finale of Vision Mysuru 2050, an ideation challenge by SDMIMD, was held on March 23, 2026, bringing together students, civic leaders, and industry experts to envision the city’s future.
 
From 317 submissions, the top 5 ideas were shortlisted and presented before a distinguished jury. The first prize was awarded to the Shudhi Project by Team Eco Prabal (Dishaa Arjun and team, Excel Public School), receiving ₹50,000. The second prize went to M15 Grid by Rohith R. Kuthnikar (L&T Limited), receiving ₹25,000.
 
The jury included eminent leaders from administration, academia, and industry. Shri Nitesh Patil, IAS, highlighted the importance of such initiatives in driving civic innovation and bridging public ideas with governance.
 
Dr. (Lt. Col.) S. N. Prasad, Director, SDMIMD, emphasized that the platform successfully identified actionable and impactful ideas for the future of Mysuru.

RDP on Factor Analysis and SEM

This edition of the Research Development Program (RDP) was organised by SDM Institute for Management Development, Mysore on March 6-7 was focused on the theme: "Factor Analysis and Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) in Social Science Research: Navigating from Data to Publication". The RDP is an initiative of SDMIMD aimed at creating an eco-system to build research skills and capability. Towards this endeavour, we had the pleasure of hosting, interacting and discussing with a vibrant cohort of more than 50 members from the south Indian states who are academicians, research scholars and practitioners. This initiative contributes to strengthening our efforts towards impactful research and caters into the needs of the policies, strategies and society. 
 
This edition of research training was conceptualised, designed and delivered by Dr B Venkatraja, Associate Professor of Economics, SDMIMD, Dr.Srilakshminarayana G, Associate Professor of Quantitative Methods, SDMIMD and Dr. Sriram M, Associate Professor of Finance, SDMIMD.  The active engagement and spirit exhibited by the participants elevated the discussions of hands-on sessions to the next level. 

Vision Mysuru–2050 Receives Strong Response; Grand Finale on March 23

Mysuru, March 14, 2026: Vision Mysuru–2050, a student-driven civic initiative of the SDM Institute for Management Development (SDMIMD), Mysuru, has entered the idea evaluation phase at the institute’s campus. Launched on February 12, 2026, the initiative aims to transform citizen insights and innovative proposals into structured recommendations for the future development of Mysuru.

The initiative received an overwhelming response with over 300 ideas from students, citizens, and professionals. After an initial screening, 172 ideas have been shortlisted for presentation before a jury panel comprising domain experts from fields such as defence, heritage, academia, technology, and management.

The submissions address key themes including urban infrastructure, sustainability, digital governance, tourism, heritage conservation, social inclusion, and economic development.

The Top 5 ideas will advance to the Grand Finale on March 23, 2026, at 4:00 PM, where teams will present their proposals before district authorities and experts. The Top 3 winning ideas will be selected, and the shortlisted proposals will also be compiled into a White Paper contributing to Mysuru’s long-term development vision.

Vision Mysuru–2050 continues to promote collaborative and participatory urban planning, bringing together citizens, experts, and institutions to reimagine the future of Mysuru.
