Dr Vasumathy currently works at SDMIMD as a Professor in Finance & General Management. Simultaneously she is undergoing a Faculty Development Program at IIM Kozhikode that would eventually lead her status to an Executive Alumnus of IIM K. Before this, she worked in various academic institutions in and out of India for about three decades. She took over to full-time teaching after a stint in the industry as a Marketing Research Executive in the Export Industry for about a decade. Having done research in Financial Markets and International Entrepreneurship, her research focuses on analyzing the dynamics of Export Entrepreneurship Diaspora, risk management, in particular, and the organics of Financial Markets. Few of her publications have found a place in Indexed and Listed Journals of repute. The courses that entice her are Financial Risk Management, Financial Econometrics, International Finance, Investment Management etc. She believes in continuous learning. Apart from gaining knowledge by attending various Workshops and Programs across the globe, she regularly imparts knowledge to her faculty-colleagues from other institutes by conducting Faculty Development programs and Workshops on Research Methods and techniques. She nurtures a secret passion for music and keeps listening to the music as it is therapeutic to the mind.
