'My Favorite Teacher' Essay Winners

Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Institute for Management Development (SDMIMD) students committee - Library Initiative For Education (LIFE) conducted Essay Competition for the 6th and 7th Standard Students of Aadarsha Vidyalaya School in Police Jockey Quarters on the topic 'My Favorite Teacher' on the occasion of Teachers Day Celebration on September 5, 2017.

The prizes were distributed to the winners of the competition Ms. Eaktha M.G. (First Prize) and Ms. L. Pratiksha (Second Prize) of 6th Standard and Ms. K. Supriya Gowda (First Prize) and Mr. Prabhanjan (Second Prize) of 7th Standard. Mr. Vignesh S. Goankar, Business Analyst, ISAC Business Consultancy, Bengaluru, addressed the young children and called upon the young minds to have a strong communication skills to excel in public relationship and make themselves strong in basics. Further, he said ‘never leave any opportunity which knocks your door as we don’t know when our life can take a turn towards success.’

Mr. Sathish, Head Master of the School, Teachers, LIFE committee members, Volunteers, Dr. Sunil M.V., Librarian and Ms. Rekha Ganapathy, Admission Officer of SDMIMD joined the prize distribution function.

It can be recalled here the recent success story of LIFE Committee in developing a school library for the young children at Aadarsha Vidhyalaya School. 

Financial Support to NGO's by SDMIMD Students

As a part of social responsibility activity, students of SDMIMD extended financial support to schools run by NGO's - Sneha Kirana Spastic Society; Purna Chetana Public School; Divya Deepa Charitable Trust's Kaliyuva Mane School; Arivu Vidya Samsthe; and Nireekshe School for Special Children. 

As in the previous years’ students extended the contribution to Asha Kirana Hospital serving the HIV infected patients. Sri C.V. Sridhar, Administrative Officer and Dr. Sunil M.V., Librarian joined the students during this support activity. 

SDMites participated in GRGC Program

SDMites participated in the Green Revolution Global Certification Program which is an initiative of International Center for Culture and Education (ICCE) under United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) being backed by United Nations and NASA. The students were involved in a certification course that gave exposure to causes of Climate Change, why should we care, and what can we do to slow down the change, on-ground activity involved plant-a-seed that promotes awareness for the cause of climate change. The program also included the introduction of planting the Beej-pencils as seeds for a Greener Tomorrow.

Intra-College Debate 2017

The first round of the Intra-College Debate Championship 2017 was held on August 21, 2017. The motion of the debate was “Women Reservation in corporate sector”. It was a heated debate where the four sets of participants strongly placed their arguments in front of an enthusiastic student gathering. Director Dr. N.R Parasuraman gave introductory remarks and encouraged the students and participants. The event was judged by Prof L. Gandhi and Prof. Prasad S.N. The event was organized by the Debate Committee of SDMIMD – DebCom.

Khoj 2017

Khoj - the talent search festival of SDMites is a platform to for the new batch of PGDM to showcase their skills in various areas. Kohj 2017 was organized on July 10, 2017 to identify the gifted freshers through various competitions and to formally welcome them to the student committees of the Institute. The show by the new PGDM batch 2017-19 was laced with impromptu speeches, colourful dances, humorous skits, classical songs and fancy dress shows.

‘Take the pressure as pleasure. You will not feel it but enjoy it. Who hasn't pressure in this world? I too have pressure but I take it as pleasure which tests my capability to come up, not to give up. The pressure which is given by your teachers is to make you moulded and to prepare you to face the challenges in your profession. You have to take it as an opportunity to prove yourself’ thus said Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade, Dharmadhikari of Dharmasthala and Chairman, SDMIMD, for the question ‘How to handle pressure and depression?’ during the interaction with the new batch of PGDM 2017-19 students. Dr. Heggade suggested the students to do yoga regularly, pranayama for few minutes and an hour of meditation, to come out of any level of depression.
 
The two-day trip for the young managers was packed with visits to Shanthivana, Ratnamanasa, Bahubali Hill, Vintage Car Museum, Manjusha Museum and Dharshan of Lord Manjunatheshwara, the main deity of Dharmasthala. Students enjoyed the traditional hospitality and food in Dharmasthala. The students were introduced to the administration and management of various activities of pilgrimage place and social upliftment programs during the trip. 

Naissance 2017

  
The students of SDMIMD organized the flagship student event of the institute Naissance 2017 edition - a National Level Management Fest during February 3 & 4, 2017. The event was designed under the theme “India-The Promised Land” which reflects India as a jewel in the emerging market crown. Naissance’17 challenged the management students from across the country on various fields of management through 8 events, namely, The Best Manager, Finance, Marketing, HR, Operations and Logistics, Systems, Business Plan and Photography challenge. 
 
The event which was a host to around 140 participants from different B-Schools, was inaugurated by Dr. H. Gayathri, Deputy Director, SDMIMD, by lighting of the lamp, Dr. R Jagadeesh, Student Coordinators Mr. Narendran V and Ms. Shushma Chengappa joined. The event began with the welcome note by Ms. Shushma Chengappa followed by an address by Dr. R Jagadeesh and Dr. H Gayatri. The two day event was sponsored by Acer Incorporation, Vijaya Bank, Reliance Jio and GRS Fantasy Park Mysore. 
 
The valedictory function of the management fest held on February 4, 2017. Prof M. Sriram of SDMIMD, Mr. Rajagopal of Reliance Jio, participants and the students of SDMIMD were present during the prize distribution and valedictory ceremony.
 
Mr. Nirmal Abraham from DCSMAT Cochin was recognized as the “Best Manager” in Naissance 2017. St. Joseph’s Institute of Management Bangalore was identified as the Overall Champions for bagging the maximum number of awards in the event. The two day fest came to an end with the vote of thanks delivered by the Student Coordinator Mr. Narendran V.

YB Debate 2017

The 5th Edition of ‘Prof. Y. Bhagavan Memorial National Level English Debate’ was jointly organized by SDMIMD and Rotary Mid-town Mysore, on February 3 & 4, 2017 at SDMIMD. Dr. C. Naganna, Visiting Professor, and Former Professor of English & Director of Prasaranga, University of Mysore, delivered the inaugural address. Dr. Naganna in his address said ‘oratory fulfils the lofty purpose; it is up to us to realize its elevated office. Hence, there is need to recover and understand the dignity of a Debate. Our younger men and women have wonderful argumentative ability. My only plea is that they should adopt their superior communicative skill to a higher purpose. It is easy for them to side with rich and powerful because of the verbal mastery. But, their personality will acquire and undimmed lustre if they speak for the weak and voiceless’. Read More>

Cinematics 2017 – Photo & Mannequin Challenge

Drishti – the photo club of SDMites organized the 2017 edition of “Cinematics” - a Photography and Mannequin challenge competition as a part of Naissance 2017, with the theme centered on “People of India”.  A photography exhibition was also conducted to display the captures, which was inaugurated and judged by renowned wildlife photographer and photojournalist S Thippeswamy. Mr. Thippeswamy provided guidance and feedback to the photography committee and offered to conduct workshops for photography enthusiasts in the college. The photography competition was won by Arjun Kumar from Hindustan College (First place) and Jagan P from SDMIMD (Second place). Rajkumar and Madhurish Katta from VVCE, won the Mannequin challenge.
