YB Debate 2017

  
The 5th Edition of ‘Prof. Y. Bhagavan Memorial National Level English Debate’ was jointly organized by SDMIMD and Rotary Mid-town Mysore, on February 3 & 4, 2017 at SDMIMD. 
 
Dr. C. Naganna, Visiting Professor, and Former Professor of English & Director of Prasaranga, University of Mysore, delivered the inaugural address. Dr. Naganna in his address said ‘oratory fulfils the lofty purpose; it is up to us to realize its elevated office. Hence, there is need to recover and understand the dignity of a Debate. Our younger men and women have wonderful argumentative ability. My only plea is that they should adopt their superior communicative skill to a higher purpose. It is easy for them to side with rich and powerful because of the verbal mastery. But, their personality will acquire and undimmed lustre if they speak for the weak and voiceless’.
 
105 speakers from across India which included 3 speakers from abroad presented their notions during the first round of this debate on the topics “Irrespective of the hostilities between India and Pakistan, Pakistani artists should be allowed to work in India.” and “Demonetization: gain not worth the pain”. The Top 15 speakers from the first round selected for the Final Round to debate on “Patrilineal culture makes second class citizens of women” on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at SDMIMD Auditorium.
 
Mr. Jeydev C.S. of National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bengaluru, won the First Place; Ms. Shree Shishya Mishra of Alliance School of Law, Bengaluru, stood 2nd and Mr. Dinesh Jagadeesh of PES Engineering College, Mandya, secured the 3rd Place. Out of the finalists 7 members were given consolation prizes. 

‘Tech-Yaana’ for Adarsha Vidyalaya Young Minds

SDMites ‘Club Silicon’ conducted an IT workshop “Tech-Yaana” for the young minds of “Adarsha Vidyalaya” the school identified for LIFE@School Project. The workshop was conducted for high school students on January 30, 2017, focused on imparting basics of Computer nd  Video showing the evolution of Computer; technological inclusion in Education system; and how computer functions internally? 

Library to Young Minds by SDMites

 
The Library Initiative For Education at School in short 'LIFE @ School' Team of SDMIMD extended a library to Government Adarsha Vidhyalaya School at Jockey Quarters Mysore. The library was inaugurated by Deepthi and Pranav the students of the School on December 15, 2016.
 
Dr. H Gayathri, Deputy Director, Dr. R. Jagadeesh, Dean-Academics; Prof. Rajendra Todalbagi, Dr. M.V. Sunil of SDMIMD; Mr. Sathish, Head Master of the school; teachers, students from SDMIMD, were present during this inaugural event. 
 

Karnataka Rajyotsava Celebrations

Karnataka Rajyotsava was celebrated at Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Institute for Management Development, Mysore, on November 29, 2016. The event started with hosting of the Kannada flag by the Director of the Institute, Dr. N. R. Parasuraman. Students sang the Kannada Naadageete ‘Jaya Bharata Jananiya tanujaate’. A special lunch with unique dishes of Karnataka was served by the students of Karnataka to other 20 states students, faculty and staff members of the institute. Kannada songs were played in the campus. 
 
In the evening, sports and cultural programs were organized. Traditional local games were introduced to other state students. Students from other states sang Kannada songs and danced to the tunes. Kabaddi match played between the staff and students’ teams and the ‘Folk dance’ performance were the highlights of the celebrations.

VITTAKSH 2016

VITTAKASH - the annual flagship event from ‘Finacle’ – the SDMites Finance Club was held on November 22, 2016 at SDMIMD. ‘Indian Economy: Boom or Bubble’ was the theme for VITTAKASH ’16. A total  16 teams of 2 members each got selected for the final round from the first round of online quiz held on November 14, 2016.  Students from the Symbiosis Institute of Business Management (SIBM), Bengaluru, won the first prize of Rs. 20,000 and Mysore Royal Academy (MYRA) stood second with the cash Rs. 15,000. Abhigyaan 2016

The 6th edition of the 2-Day Annual Management Fest for Undergraduate students Abhigyaan 2016 was organized on October 3 & 4, 2016 by SDMites. Samprathi - the SDMites team spear headed the event said ‘this edition of Abhigyaan primarily aimed at providing a platform and exposure to the undergraduate students. 338 students from different colleges across the state participated in the 6 events in Abhigyaan designed to assess their managerial skills’. 
 
The students from SDM College for Business Management, Mangalore, emerged as overall champions. The Champions won First Prize in the marketing event; Mr. Hrishikesh R.K. from the winning team emerged as the Best Manager event; and won 2nd prize in HR Event. “Through the Lens” the photography event was captured by students from Vidyavardhaka College, Mysore. The young managers from Vidyaashram, Mysore team won the HR Event HRendezvouz and the marketing event Mark-emptor. The students from SDM Degree College, Ujire, showcased their talent in Street Play event and won First place. 

LIFE at School by SDMites

SDMites have taken a socially responsible initiative to gift a library to the young minds of Government Adarsha Vidyalaya (High School) in Jockey Quarters, Mysore. The 'Library Initiative For Education at School' in short 'LIFE at School' has team comprising of Ms. Shushma Chengappa, Mr. Narendran V and Mr. B. Chiranjeevi from PGDM 2015-17 and Mr. Anil Ram Adya, Mr. Sanjeev, Ms. Sanjana, Ms. Nayana Singh, Ms. Swetha, Ms. Pooja, Mr. Priyesh, and Ms. Meghana from PGDM 2016-17 started this initiative.
 
The initiative kick-off on Monday, August 1, 2016, by collecting and moving 1300+ books donated by Ramakrishna Vidyashala, Mysuru to this initiative. The team started classifying the books.
 
‘Art of Reading Newspaper’ was the session conducted by the team to Class IX on August 1, 2016. The activity based session was well received by the young minds and enjoyed the joy of learning as well.
 
This initiative is spearheaded by Dr. H. Gayathri, Deputy Director and Dr. Sunil M.V., Librarian of SDMIMD.

Khoj 2016

Khoj - the talent search festival of SDMites is a platform to for the new batch of PGDM to showcase their aptitude. Kohj 2016 was organized on July 18, 2016 to identify talent among the freshers through various competitions and to formally welcome them to student committees of the Institute. The show by the new PGDM batch 2016-18 was laced with impromptu speeches, colourful dances, humourous skits, classical songs and fancy dress shows.

Kalanubhav 2016

It was splendid cultural evening on Thursday, February 11, 2016 at SDMIMD, giving opt synchronization to the title of the program 'Kalanubhav'. The Bharatanatyam performance by Vidushi Yamini Muthanna presenting her choreography 'Margam' and 'Navagraha - the Lords of the Constellation' set to the original slokas of Sri Shankaracharya, mesmerized the crowd. This was followed by a presentation of traditional art forms - Hatha Yoga and Kallaripayatu.
 
Kalanubhav is a student committee with the objective of being a platform for propagating and showcasing all forms of Indian art by SDMites. The annual event of Kalanubhav brings eminent artists to introduce the different art forms and to keep up the rich tradition & class of our Indian culture.

Naissance 2024, the flagship B-School Management Fest of SDMIMD, Mysore, kicked off with great enthusiasm and fervor. The event was inaugurated by Smt. Seema Latkar, IPS Officer and SP of Mysore District, alongside esteemed industry figures, setting the stage for a thrilling showcase of talent and innovation.
 
In her address, SP Smt. Seema Latkar emphasized the importance of platforms like Naissance in nurturing future leaders and bridging the gap between academia and industry expectations.
 
Dr. (Lt Col) Prasad S.N, Director of SDMIMD, extended a warm welcome to all attendees, paving the way for a captivating exploration of Naissance 2024's theme "Vanguard of Tech Multiverse." Throughout the fest, participants engaged in a series of competitive Management events, showcasing their strategic acumen, innovative prowess, and managerial skills.
 
Naissance 2024 witnessed an overwhelming response, with over 475 participants representing 42 colleges from across India. This remarkable turnout is a testament to the growing popularity and relevance of Naissance as a platform for academic excellence, networking, and skill development.
 
Throughout the event, participants engaged in spirited competitions, showcasing their talents and innovative ideas across various domains. After intense deliberation and competition, the students from Christ University, Bangalore (Bannerghatta), emerged as the winners of Naissance 2024, while St. Aloysius University secured the runner-up position, demonstrating their exceptional skills and strategic acumen.
 
Naissance 2024 concluded with a Prize Distribution ceremony for the winners and runners-up and all the participants. As the fest concluded, participants departed with newfound insights and connections, marking Naissance 2024 as a resounding success in the realm of management education.
Naissance 2020 - The Annual Management Fest
SDMIMD, Mysuru inaugurated its flagship B-School Management Fest ‘Naissance 2020 – Battle of the Zodiac Signs’, with Mr. Ryshyanth, Superintendent of Police (SP), Mysore District and Mr. H. S. Nagesh, Vijaya Bank, Mysore as distinguished Chief Guests. 
 
Mr. Ryshyanth, SP Mysore District, began his speech by stating that competition such as Naissance would bring the best talent out of students. He opined that the gap between education and company’s expectations are being bridged by educational institutes such as SDMIMD. He encouraged the students to think differently, be competitive and work hard. He also urged the students to keep in mind what is relevant currently. He concluded his speech by urging the students to understand the advantages that India has and how this can be projected to create a brand image for India.
 
Mr. H. S Nagesh from Vijaya bank congratulated the students of the institute and conveyed his best wishes to more than 150 participating young student managers representing B Schools from Karnataka and neighbouring states.
 
Earlier, Dr. H. Gayathri, Deputy Director of SDMIMD, welcomed the gathering and shared her views and thoughts about Naissance 2020 and its theme.  Student coordinator Ms. Sristi Roy Chowdhury gave a brief about the theme of ‘Naissance 2020 – Battle of the Zodiac Signs’, which revolved around the management lessons and principles to be derived from Signs of Zodiac which battle to prove their mettle.    
 
The two-day national level B-School fest witnessed the intellectual battle and supremacy between the brightest minds of premier B-schools of India. The students from Christ University, Bangalore emerged as Winners of Naissance 2020 by their outstanding performance in various events- Aquarius (Toastmaster Event), Libra (Entrepreneurship Skills Event), Gemini (HR Event), Capricorn: (Systems/IT Event), Scorpion (Marketing Marketing) organized as a part of the Management Fest.
HH Yaduveer Wadiyar inaugurates Naissance 2019
SDMIMD's flagship B-School Management Fest Naissance was inaugurated on 1st February 2019. The 2019 edition with the theme 'Combat of the Crowns’ was inaugurated by the Chief Guest His Highness, The Maharaja of Mysore, Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar. The two-day national level B-School fest witnessed intellectual battle and supremacy between the brightest minds of premier B-schools of India with the participation of 176 students from 18 colleges. The theme of ‘Naissance 2019 – Combat of the Crowns’ revolved around the management lessons and principles derived from the ancient Indian emperors and its implications in today’s dynamic business environment. Kristu Jayanthi College from Bengaluru emerged as the Overall winners of Naissance 2019.
Naissance 2018
The students of SDMIMD organized the flagship student event of the institute Naissance 2018 edition - a National Level Management Fest during January 12 and 13, 2018. The event was designed under the theme “Heroes We Need”. Naissance’18 challenged the management students from across the country on various fields of management through 9 events, namely, The Best Manager, Finance, Marketing, HR, Debate, Quiz, Systems, Business Plan and Photography challenge. 
 
The event which was a host to around 170 participants from different B-Schools across the country was inaugurated by the Chief Guest Mr. Krishnan, Manager of Vijaya Bank. 
 
Dr. N.R Parasuraman, Director, SDMIMD delivered the welcome address and Deputy Director Dr. H. Gayathri spoke about the importance of such fest in a B-School scenario. Mr Krishnan shared his thoughts on the occasion.
 
The two day event was sponsored by Vijaya Bank, System needs, The Journey, Travel Next, Vasavamba Condiments, Sha's and Aaharas' and Merako Media
 
The valedictory function was scheduled on January 13, 2018. Mr. Nikhil Furtado of Merako Media was the Chief Guest for the Valedictory function. The participants, alumni and the students of SDMIMD joined for the prize distribution ceremony.
 
Mr. Kasi Vishwanathan from Jansons school of Business, Coimbatore was recognized as the “Best Manager” in Naissance 2018. Christ University, Main Campus was identified as the Overall Champions for bagging the maximum number of points in the event
Naissance 2017
  
The students of SDMIMD organized the flagship student event of the institute Naissance 2017 edition - a National Level Management Fest during February 3 & 4, 2017. The event was designed under the theme “India-The Promised Land” which reflects India as a jewel in the emerging market crown. Naissance’17 challenged the management students from across the country on various fields of management through 8 events, namely, The Best Manager, Finance, Marketing, HR, Operations and Logistics, Systems, Business Plan and Photography challenge. 
 
The event which was a host to around 140 participants from different B-Schools, was inaugurated by Dr. H. Gayathri, Deputy Director, SDMIMD, by lighting of the lamp, Dr. R Jagadeesh, Student Coordinators Mr. Narendran V and Ms. Shushma Chengappa joined. The event began with the welcome note by Ms. Shushma Chengappa followed by an address by Dr. R Jagadeesh and Dr. H Gayatri. The two day event was sponsored by Acer Incorporation, Vijaya Bank, Reliance Jio and GRS Fantasy Park Mysore. 
 
The valedictory function of the management fest held on February 4, 2017. Prof M. Sriram of SDMIMD, Mr. Rajagopal of Reliance Jio, participants and the students of SDMIMD were present during the prize distribution and valedictory ceremony.
 
Mr. Nirmal Abraham from DCSMAT Cochin was recognized as the “Best Manager” in Naissance 2017. St. Joseph’s Institute of Management Bangalore was identified as the Overall Champions for bagging the maximum number of awards in the event. The two day fest came to an end with the vote of thanks delivered by the Student Coordinator Mr. Narendran V. 
Naissance 2016
 
“Naissance” is a platform for all those aspiring zealous youth, who strive to make a difference in today’s world. The 10th Edition of Naissance was inaugurated on January 27, 2016 by Mr. Raj Sabhlok, President, ManageEngine and Zoho.com at SDMIMD Auditorium. During his inaugural address Mr. Raj spoke about the changing trends in management schools across the globe and what is relevant in the current scenario. He expressed his views on the theme for this year’s Naissance 'Cross the chasm'.  Mr. Raj narrated about Zoho Corporation & the products they have to offer and ended his speech. 
 
The grand 3-Day Annual Management Fest driven by SDMites was on the theme “Crossing the Chasm”. The fest comprises of exclusive events that challenge the participants with utmost difficult hurdles to cross the chasm. The event was conducted with broad spectrum of general management and flagship event of naissance that is ‘The Best Manager - Mahrfia’.
 
The flagship event of Naissance 2016 ‘Mahrfia – the Best Manager’ was won by Ms. Chandini from Christ University (Kengeri Campus), Bengaluru; the Vittaksh - the Finance event was achieved by Mr. Mohit & Ms. Chanchal from Vanguard College; the marketing event – The M- Square Inc. was accomplished by Mr. Rishab Gupta and Mr. Pranav Mandal from IBA; and the Big Future - the General Management was gained by Ms. Nolita D’Souza, Ms. Kiran and Ms. Keerthana Kurup of Christ University (Main Campus). The participants from different B-Schools across the nation experienced the simulation of tough competitive corporate world in Naissance 2016.

Naissance Inauguration
Naissance, the Student managed flagship management fest of SDMIMD was inaugurated by Mr. Girish Karunakaran, Vice President of Eurasia, Software Paradigm International (SPI). The 3-Day event scheduled during January 29 to 31, 2015, is the arena wherein the brightest minds from the best B-Schools across India battle it out to attain supremacy in intellect and creativity. This year the theme ‘Unscramble for Success’ emphasizes the need for synergy and distinctness among managers to enable them, make the right moves at the right time to scale greater pinnacles in this scrambled world.
 
Mr. Girish Karunakaran in his inaugural address to the young minds gathered stressed on the role of youth towards building the nation. Speaking about the entrepreneurial initiatives in the country, which is steadily growing over the past few years, he called upon the young managers to build their career and provide employment to others as well.
 
Dr. N.R. Parasuraman, Director, SDMIMD welcomed the gathering and appreciated the effort and managerial acumen of SDMites in making Naissance 2015 possible. 
 
Over 180 students representing B-Schools across India participated in this event. The participants had chance to showcase their managerial acumen in various events organized at Naissance 2015. 
 
  • ‘Daayitva’ the Corporate Social Responsibility event was won by team ‘Sharpeners’, from the CSR Centre of Excellence, comprising Gurunandan Rao M, Sahana V.P and Jagadeesh P.H. 
  • The finance event ‘VittArohan’ had team from Loyola Institute of Business Administration, comprising Chathurya P and Geetha P.J as winner. 
  • The team from XIME Bangalore, comprising of Nupur Malpani and Moumita Mahapatra won the Human Resource event ‘Carpe Articulum’
  • The team from LIBA won the marketing event ‘Markethor’. Oscar D’Souza and Evans Thomas represented LIBA for the marketing event. 
  • ‘Impendence’ the Operations event was conquered by Nimish Halkar and Libin George representing Christ University. 
  • Another team from Christ comprising of Sharan Jawalkar and Devesh Sharma won the Systems event - ‘Lucifer’s Ultimatum’.  
  • The B-Plan competition organized by SDMIMD E-Cell – Swayam was very encouraging. The team from Goa Institute of Management - findadspot.com comprising of Mr.Ankur Jhunjhunwala and Mr.Suneet Dashora emerged as winners of this event. 
Xavier’s Institute of Management Bangalore emerged as Overall Champions of Naissance 2015 for their performance in all the events organized in this 3-Day management fest. 
 
Mr. Rakesh Babu , Director, Innomantra, was the Chief Guest for the valedictory function. Mr. Rakesh Babu addressed the gathering and handed over the prizes to the winners of the various events. The audience was thrilled and cheered the winning team of XIMB when it received the overall trophy from the chief guest.
Naissance 2014
‘Competition is global, thus we need people who have got idea, who are fearless to experiment, both entrepreneur and intrapreneur’ thus said Mr. Girish Karunakaran, President Eurasia, Software Paradigms International Group LLC (SPI). He was speaking during the inauguration of 3-Day management fest – NAISSANCE 2014. Mr. Girish emphasized on being ethical, intelligent and energetic which are the core prerequisites for any MBA graduate to make an entry to the corporate world. During his inaugural speech he talked about the industry-institute-interface between SPI and SDMIMD which has yielded quality results in various activities. Mr. Srinivasa Rao, ‎Manager - Sales at SPI and the alumnus of SDMIMD, shared his experience as a student at SDMIMD and the challenges he managed at SPI in various capacities. Mr. Shahbaz Akthar, the Student Coordinator presented about the NAISSANCE 2014 and its theme to the audience. Dr. N.R. Parasuraman, Director of the Institute welcomed the gathering.
