Big Future: the B-Plan Competition 2015

Swayam – the Entrepreneurship Cell (E-Cell) of SDMIMD has organized national level B-plan competition – Big Future, in which premier B-schools across India were participated in this event. It was a platform where the budding entrepreneurs got a chance to fulfil their dream plan into real. The competition was organized as a part of Naissance 2015. The event scheduled on January 29 & 30, 2015 were adjudged by the SDMIMD alumni members - Mr. Ravi Shankar, CEO, Aim High Consultancy and  Mr. Murali Mohan, Managing Partner of Gopika Perfumeries. Dr. M. R. Suresh & Prof. Rajendra Todalbagi the faculty members were present.
The B-Plan competition organized by SDMIMD E-Cell – Swayam was very encouraging. The team from Goa Institute of Management - findadspot.com comprising of Mr.Ankur Jhunjhunwala and Mr.Suneet Dashora emerged as winners of this event.

66th Republic Day Celebration

SDMIMD commemorated 66 years of Indian Republic day with the usual enthusiasm and zeal.  Dr.  M.R. Suresh, Professor – Marketing, was the Chief Guest of the function. The function began with the hoisting of the flag by the chief guest followed by the singing of the national anthem.  Prof. M R Suresh and Prof. N.R. Govinda Sharma, Professor – Business Ethics and Strategy spoke on the occasion and gave away the certificates to the winners of various sports events organized recently. Several students shared their thoughts on the country.  This was followed by a community breakfast at the Institute mess.  Many faculty members including the Director were present.

Ra-Ga Sisters Musical Melody

SDMIMD had organized a Carnatic vocal concert on January 19, 2015 at SDMIMD Auditorium. Ranjani and Gayathri known as Ra-Ga Sisters, kept the audience bound to their music from start to finish. The entire Carnatic musical program was filled with melody and was greatly appreciated by the large audience.The program was held under the aegis of Kalanubhav, a student cultural forum at the Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Institute for Management Development (SDMIMD) . Every year this student body conducts an event pertaining to music or arts to sensitize the students on Indian culture.

Vittaksh 2014 from SDMites Finnacle Team

SDMites Finance Club - Finnacle successfully conducted Vittaksh-2014 – the Annual National Level Finance Fest during November 28 & 29, 2014. Vittaksh 2014 had 9 rounds which tested and teased the brains of young management students who took part in the event. 17 teams from reputed b-schools including TAPMI, SIBM-Bangalore, Christ University, MYRA School of Business had participated in this National level event. Team from TAPMI emerged as winners of the event and bagged a cash prize of rupees twenty thousand. The team from SIBM-Bangalore was the runner up which got the cash prize of rupees fifteen thousand. 

Blood Donation Camp

"The blood you donate gives someone another chance at life". SDMites are always seen coming forward with great enthusiasm to address social issues whenever the situations so warrant. Sunday, November 28, 2014, was one such day. SDMites as many as 61 in number donated their blood to Government Krishna Rajendra (KR) Hospital Mysore at a special camp held at the Institute. The medical team from K.R. Hospital and doctors from Mysore Medical College provided the medical support.

58th Karnataka Rajyotsava Celebration

On November 21, 2014 SDMIMD was transformed into a festival mood on the occasion of Rajyotsava celebrations. Students from 28 states of India happily participated in the festivities of the 58th Anniversary of Karnataka State Formation day.The event began with decorating of the photo of ‘Bhuvaneshwari - Karnataka Maate’ and lighting the traditional lamp. All the SDMites got an opportunity to taste various cuisines of Karnataka which included traditional Ragi Muddae (Ball) and Holige. Students from Karnataka played host for all the celebrations and cheerfully served the food on plantain leaves. Melodious Kannada songs were played on this occasion.​ The celebration culminated with the cultural programs in the evening.

Abhigyaan 2014 – Management Fest for Undergraduates

SDMIMD held their 2-Day Annual Management Fest for Undergraduate students – Abhigyaan 2014 on September 30 & October 1, 2014 at their Campus. SDMites challenged the young minds with series of events to assess their managerial skills. The events included Corporate Czar - to identify the Best Manager; Dossier – the paper presentation competition; the Human Edge – to test the communication skills; Game of Thrones – to test the wittiness; Big Picture - the photography event; Kotler’s Paradigm - to analyze the innovativeness; Escapade - to judge the participants about the concern towards societal issues. 
Alliance University Students emerged as overall champions by winning the First Prize in two events - Dossier and Human Edge. Students of Vidhyashram College were adjudged the Best Managers in the event Corporate Czar. Game of Thrones the event to test the participant wittiness was won by the students of St. Philomenas College. The photograph by Mr. Mohammed Aneez of St. Aloisyous College, Mangalore won the first place in Big Picture event. Amritha Vishwavidyalayam, Mysore, stood first in the Kotler’s paradigm event. SDM Mangalore with the active participation won the Escapade event. The Prizes to the winners in the respective events and the overall trophy was given away by Prof. Mohamed Minhaj, Professor –Systems, SDMIMD.

Food Carnival 2014

The Annual Food Carnival at SDMIMD provides a platform to the Institute students, to bring out their showcase their cooking flair and marketing skills Simultaneously. The Institute has students from over 20 states in the country and in a friendly competitive environment, students prepared special dishes in the Institute Mess. In the process, they worked on inventory management and marketing of their products. Also, entrepreneurial skills of the students comes into focus as they need to take decisions regarding the extent of investment and to analyze the risks and rewards involved. The event was held on September 27,2014.
Andhra Vantillu by Sathish Kumar & Group bagged the FIRST prize the delicious Andhra food; Indori Chatkara by Ruchi Jain & Group won 2nd Prize and Pann Ri Dhani by Vaibhav Bhandari & Group won the 3rd Place.

Chess Blaster Winners

Mr. Alwyn Miranda of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) won the “Chess Blaster” the corporate chess tournament organized by Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Institute for Management Development (SDMIMD), Mysore. The annual tournament conducted by the Student Sports Committee of the institute attracted participants from Accenture, ITC, TCS, SPI, JK Tyres, Robert Bosch, IBM, AIG and other companies.This annual event was started a few years ago in memory of late Smt. D. Rathnamma, mother of the Chairman Dr. Veerendra Heggade. Year after year the tournament has gained in stature and quality of participation.Mr. K.V. Shripad and Mr. Y.G. Vijayeendra were the arbiters for the tournament and announced the result. Mr. Alwyn Miranda from TCS won the first place, Mr. B.G. Poobesh from Accenture and Mr. B.R. Karthik from AIG stood second and third respectively.

Swayam's CERABRA 2014 Quiz Competition

SDMIMD E-Cell Swayam organized CERABRA-2014, an Entrepreneurial Quiz Competition on August 24, 2014. The Masterminds Team with Mr. Prateek Jain, Mr. Anand S., and Harish Kumar Janghel emerged as winners by successfully completing three rounds of intensified cerebral activity. Team TPH with Mohammed Mr. Tauheed Ur Rahman, Mr. Pradeep Kumar Meena and Mr. Himanshu Kumar Singh were the Runners Up of CERABRA 2014.
