Certificate Awarding Ceremony of PGPM 2018-19 Batch

 
The Certificate Awarding Ceremony for the first batch of Post Graduate Program in Management (PGPM) was organized on August 5, 2019. Eight students were awarded the Certificate by Shri. D. Surendra Kumar, Vice-President, SDM Educational Trust.  
 
In the ceremonial address Shri. D. Surendra Kumar recalled the earlier days of the institute when ideas were borrowed from IIM’s and said ‘SDMIMD is better than many IIMs by offering - one-year, doctoral and twin program apart from our flagship PGDM program, and many B-Schools dare to start beyond MBA program’.  
 
Prof. Malathi Sriram, Chairperson of PGPM Program, presented the report of the academic year 2018-19 and congratulated the graduating students who got placed in companies of repute such as Moody’s Analytics, EqualizeRCM, Ornativa, HDFC Bank Ltd, and HealthCare Ltd. 
 
Prof. Malathi informed the audience that the PGPM was ranked among the top 10 One-year programs in the country by Outlook in the B-School Survey 2018. 

Industry Visit to SKDRDP

The field visit (industrial visit part #2) to SKDRDP beneficiaries Mysuru was organized by the Institute for the benefit of One-Year PGPM students. The PGPM students accompanied by course instructor Prof.Kannadas and the village SHGs supervisor Ms.Savitha visited the homes of the beneficiaries and samudhaya bhavana meeting office on March 29th, 2019. The field visit started with the visit to beneficiaries homes' and continued with the dairy forms. Students had interacted with the beneficiaries regarding their availed loan facilities and change of life styles after that. The field visits were very helpful to the students in relating the classroom interactions about the microfinance and micro lending with the ground level reality with the face to face interaction with the beneficiaries and SHG members. It was a very good learning experience for the group. 

Industry Visit to UJJIVAN Small Finance Bank, Mysuru

The industrial visit (part #1) to UJJIVAN Small finance bank, mysuru and SKDRDP Mysuru office was organized by the Institute for the benefit of One-Year PGPM students. The PGPM students accompanied by course instructor Prof.Kannadas visited both the facilities on March 23rd, 2019. The industry visit started with the visit to  UJJIVAN Small finance bank, mysuru.  The Branch manager Mr.Padma Prabha elaborated the origin and developments of the bank and introduced the departmental heads to the students during the post-lunch session, the students visited each and every departmental heads i.e. loan appraisal to recovery management and were given details about the protocol followed by the bank. Students have collected the required details and left to SKDRDP office. In SKDRDP office, students were given the inputs about the origin and evolution about the SKDRDP Projects. Mr.Vishwas, branch project officer and Ms.Vishala, Principal and Mr.Shiva kumar, SKDRDP official explained about each and every projects with the assistance of visual projections. Students were taken to each and every training facilities within the premises to make them understand the procedure the followed. The industry visits were very helpful to the students in relating the classroom interactions about the microfinance and micro lending with the actual practice. It was a very good learning experience for the group.  

Industry Visit to Toyota Kirloskar and Bosch

The study tour to two industries at Bidadi Industrial Area in Bangalore was organized by the Institute for the benefit of One-Year PGPM students. The PGPM students accompanied by course instructor Dr R. Jagadeesh and Chairperson of the program Prof. Malathi Sriram visited Toyota Kirloskar and Bosch on March 15, 2019. The industry visit started with the visit to Toyota Kirloskar Auto Parts Limited, Bangalore. SDMites were greeted by the staff and explained the safety rules to be followed. Later the students went through different manufacturing plants and understood the production of auto components used in the Toyota cars which are assembled in another plant. The VP Mr Baligar explained the safety and quality systems followed by the company. During the post-lunch session, the students visited the Bosch (Bidadi Unit) Company and were given details about the quality practices followed by the company. Mr Naveen the head of the QMS division explained about the quality practices in Bosch. The industry visits were very helpful to the students in relating the classroom interactions in the 'Strategic Quality Control (SQC)' course with the actual practice. It was a very good learning experience for the group.

Commencement of PGPM Program

 
‘There have been noticeable changes in the delivery of Management Education – Blended learning, Massive Open Online Course (MOOC), Part-Time, Distance and the conventional mode.  In all these the use of technology adoption can be seen vividly. said Dr. N.R. Parasuraman, Director, SDMIMD, said during the inaugural address of the Post Graduate Program in Management (PGPM) at SDMIMD, Mysore.  He added that SDMIMD has launched the one-year PGPM to cater to the specific needs of aspirants.  Although the duration of the program is just one year compared to the nearly 2-year duration of the regular PGDM, the Institute seeks to make this as rigorous and instructive’.
 
Addressing the gathering Dr. H. Gayathri, Deputy Director, SDMIMD, said ‘the one-year program is a packed presentation of managerial skills and knowledge for corporate life blended with academic rigor and international relevance, but is cultural of Indian ethos’.
 
Earlier, Prof. Malathi Sriram, Chairperson of the program, welcomed the gathering and presented an overview on the genesis of the program and curriculum offering.
 
Faculty and staff members of the institute and the invites were present.
