ALT 2019 by Mr. Krishnakumar Natarajan of Mindtree

Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Institute for Management Development (SDMIMD) is organizing the 11th edition of Annual Leadership Talk (ALT) on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 in SDMIMD Auditorium. This year the talk will be delivered by Mr. Krishnakumar Natarajan, Executive Chairman, Mindtree. 
 
The event, which has been held since 2008, has had speakers who are luminaries from various fields like Dr. Michael A. Consumano (Professor, MIT Sloan School), Dr. V. Prakash (Former Director, CFTRI, Mysore), Dr. H. Sudarshan (Hony. Secretary, Karuna Trust), Dr. R Balasubramaniam (Founder, Swami Vivekananda Youth Movement, Mysore); Mr. Anil Sachdev, Founder and CEO of Grow Talent Company Ltd; Dr. R.A. Mashelkar, The President, Global Research Alliance; Prof. Gita Gopinath, Professor in Economics, Harvard University; Mr. Sid Mookerji, Global CEO and Co- Founder, Software Paradigms International Group LLP (SPI); Mr. Salil Ravindran, CFO, Marlabs; and last year Dr Stefan Wilms, Dean of the faculty of Economics and Transport, Heilbronn University, Germany, delivered the 10th edition of Annual Leadership Talk.

About the Speaker of ALT 2019
A leading authority in the global IT sector, Krishnakumar Natarajan co-founded Mindtree in 1999 and has played key roles in building the company’s innovative approach to delivering IT services and solutions to global 2000 enterprises. Natarajan was instrumental in setting up Mindtree’s U.S. operations, driving expansion in Europe and Asia Pacific regions, and transforming Mindtree’s IT services business. Today, his mission as Executive Chairman is to focus on leadership development and ensure a high quality of governance. He also actively mentors different business groups within the company and works closely with the start-up ecosystem to bring in innovative models of business transformation for clients.
 
In his prior role as CEO and Managing Director, Natarajan was responsible for making Mindtree a global IT player. Natarajan’s efforts as a business leader have been recognized worldwide, winning him several laurels. He was ranked amongst the most valuable CEOs in India by Businessworld & Forbes in 2016. He won Bloomberg UTV’s award as the CEO of the Year in 2010, Business Today CEO of the year award in 2014 and was recognized by Chief Executive Magazine’s as one of the twelve global leaders of tomorrow. EY honoured him with Entrepreneur of the year 2015 in Services.
 
A 35-year IT industry veteran, Natarajan held several key positions at Wipro before co-founding Mindtree. During this time, he launched and grew the ecommerce division of Wipro, served as Group Vice President of human resources, and was Chief Marketing Officer for Wipro’s IT business. In 2013, Natarajan served as Chairman of the National Association of Software and Services Companies (NASSCOM), where he worked to strengthen the Indian IT industry to be a globally competitive ecosystem comprised of both established and emerging companies.
 
Natarajan is an active member of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). He is also a regular speaker at international IT industry conferences and a faculty member at management schools around the world. He has a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the College of Engineering, Chennai, India, and a master’s degree in Business Administration from the Xavier Institute, Jamshedpur, India.

The 2018-19 edition of SDMIMD’s Management Development Programs (MDPs) annual calendar is focused on feedback, changing demands on business and needs of professional executives. Over the years SDMIMD’s MDP is known to support management systems in practice and to provide training to the executives of different sectors at different levels in an organization.

2-Day Workshop on 'Restructuring and Redesigning the Higher Education Curriculum to Meet Industry Needs' January 24 & 25, 2018 | SDMIMD, Mysuru
 
SDMIMD is collaborating with Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) - Southern Region is organizing a 2-Day Workshop on 'Restructuring and Redesigning the Higher Education Curriculum to Meet Industry Needs'. The workshop is organized as part of Education Initiatives of CII.
 
For Whom:
Principals, Directors, Deans, HODs and Senior Faculties from the Colleges and Institutions
 
Objective and Purpose:
The key objective of the workshop is to discuss on curriculum restructuring and redesign and to help higher education institutions gain advantages in ‘producing’ graduates who will meet the changing skill and knowledge demands of the industry. The workshop provides platform to institutions in enhancing learning outcomes; to establish a collaborative, mutually satisfying relationship between the industry and higher education institutions.  
 
The purpose of the workshop is to:

  • Upgrade in quality of collegiate education through practice-orientation
  • Enhancement of faculty competencies through exposure to industry best practices

6th International HR Conference

In the ever-changing business context, Human Resource Management has been playing the role of the key differentiator in business growth, development and survival for firms. Along with addressing functional issues, HRM has been contributing strategically towards the return on investment of any organization. Human resource management, therefore, deals with core issues of managing the change in the business processes and aligning the organizations’ systems, structures, and policies to leverage competitiveness, with regard to the operating business environment. The emphasis today is to manage HR functions and policies in a manner such that organizations can be provided with a unique pool of people who can continuously take the organization to new levels of growth and sustainability.
 
In the above backdrop, SDMIMD is organizing its 6th International Conference on Managing Human Resources at the Workplace, on 8 and 9 10 December, 2017, at SDMIMD campus, Mysuru.

23rd Annual SDMIMD Convocation

On completion of the two-year learning process, the students of Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) of Batch 2016-18 will receive the degree during the 23rd Annual Convocation. This dream day will be on March 24, 2018. Shri. N.S. Vishwanathan, Deputy Governor, Reserve Bank of India, will be the Chief Guest of this academic grandeur and will deliver the Keynote Address. Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade, Chairman, SDMIMD will preside over the function. Eminent personalities from academic and corporate world are invited to join the SDMIMD family in honouring the student in this awarding ceremony.
About the Chief Guest
 
Mr. N. S. Vishwanathan, is serving as Deputy Governor of Reserve Bank of India since July 2016 and as its Executive Director since April 2014. Mr. Vishwanathan served as Principal Chief General Manager in the Department of non-banking supervision at Reserve Bank of India. 
 
As Deputy Governor, Shri Vishwanathan will look after Department of Banking Regulation (DBR), Department of Co-operative Banking Regulation (DCBR), Department of Non-Banking Regulation (DNBR), Deposit Insurance and Credit Guarantee Corporation (DICGC), Financial Stability Unit (FSU), Inspection Department, Risk Monitoring Department (RMD) and Secretary’s Department.
 
Shri Vishwanathan, a career central banker, joined the Reserve Bank of India in 1981. His areas of expertise include regulation and supervision of banks, non-banking finance companies and cooperative banks, currency management, foreign exchange and human resources management. He had a three-year secondment to the Bank of Mauritius, the central bank of Mauritius, as Director, Supervision. He has also been the head of Chennai Regional office of the Reserve Bank.
 
Shri Vishwanathan was the Reserve Bank nominee on the Board of Directors of three public sector banks at different points in time. He was also the Chief Vigilance Officer and Head of Internal Audit, IFCI. He has been associated with various committees, working groups, and task forces. He represented the Reserve Bank in various international Committees. These are: Member of the Policy Development Group, BIS, Basel, Member of Macro Prudential Policy Group BIS, Basel, and Executive Committee Member of the International Credit Union Regulators Network.

One-Day Workshop on Research and Publications

The art of publishing calls for holistic approach to understanding the ‘world of publishing’. It is vital in bringing out the nuances of scholarly journals, for the benefit of academia. The holistic approach systematically address creativity imbibed in publishing activity with sole aim of accelerating in the race. There cannot be more special occasion other than ‘National Library Week’ which falls during November 14 to 20 every year.
 
Keeping this in view Mysore University Information and Library Science Alumni Network (MILAN) in collaboration with SDM Institute for Management Development (SDMIMD) will be organizing one-day workshop on ‘Research and Publication’ on Sunday, November 19, 2017 at MDP Hall, SDMIMD. Mysore.

Abhigyaan 2017 - A fest for Undergraduate


 
ABHIGYAAN is an undergraduate national level fest. The flagship B-fest organized by SDMIMD, Mysore. It is held every year in the SDMIMD college campus with active participation of undergraduates from different colleges in India. The intention of ABHIGYAAN is to expose MBA aspirants to life in a B-school. ABHIGYAAN has been successful in branding SDMIMD in the minds of MBA aspirants as a prospective B-School to pursue management education.

Faculty Development Program (FDP) 2017

SDMIMD is organizing Faculty Development Program (FDP) in the last week of July 2017 at the SDMIMD campus in Mysore. 
 
The intensive session plan of this faculty improvement program will have coverage in the areas of Marketing, Strategy, HR, Operations, Systems and Finance. Cases from Harvard Business School will be discussed and sessions will also include hands-on sessions in the computer centre.
 
The fee is Rs.2500/- per faculty.
