Program Overview 
This program on Bibliometric Techniques for Engineering and Management Applications is a comprehensive training program designed to equip faculty members and researchers in engineering and management disciplines with the knowledge and skills to apply bibliometric techniques in their research, academic pursuits and consultancy assignments. 
 
The program aims to enhance research productivity, impact, and evaluation in these fields.

Program Objectives
  1. To understand the fundamentals of bibliometrics and its applications in engineering and management research.
  2. To learn various bibliometric techniques, tools, and software for research and analysis.
  3. To apply bibliometric methods to assess research productivity, impact, and quality.

Resource Persons
Dr. Sunil M.V., is a Faculty in the area of Systems and General Management with over two decades of experience. He has contributed to academia and research in his area of expertise. As the former coordinator for SDM RCMS at SDMIMD, he significantly advanced the PhD program and promoted a research-oriented culture.
 
Dr. Anand Sasikumar is a Faculty in the Operations area at SDM Institute for Management Development, Mysuru. He has a Ph. D from National Institute of Industrial Engineering (NITIE, Now IIM-Mumbai), Mumbai and Masters degree in Industrial engineering from Concordia university, Montreal, Canada . He has made significant contributions to academia and research.

One-day Faculty Development Programme on “Innovative Teaching Methods”

On May 31, 2024, SDMIMD, Mysore, successfully conducted a Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on "Innovative Teaching Methods." The program attracted academicians from across India, with all participants actively engaging in this hands-on event. Dr. SN Prasad, Director of SDMIMD, inaugurated the FDP, emphasizing the importance of innovative teaching methods that leverage creativity and modern tools for effective knowledge impartation. Dr. Nanda Kishore Shetty, the FDP/MDP Chairperson, supervised the event. The sessions were led by esteemed faculty members of SDMIMD. Dr. Mousumi Sengupta conducted sessions on the background, types, and methodologies of innovative teaching methods, as well as on role play and case study methods. Dr. Sunil MV led sessions on the introduction to artificial intelligence, designing AI-based student assignments, and developing AI policies and assessment methods. The FDP received high praise from participants, who expressed their gratitude and provided positive feedback.

FDP on Leveraging AI for Teaching and Research

A Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on “Leveraging AI for Teaching and Research” was successfully conducted on April 19, 2024, at SDMIMD, Mysore, in a hybrid mode. The program attracted academicians and research scholars from India and abroad, all actively participating in this hands-on FDP.
 
The faculty resource persons of SDMIMD, Dr. Sunil MV and Dr. Mamta Hegde, conducted various sessions during this one-day FDP, as mentioned below:
Session 1: AI in pedagogy and curriculum design.
Session 2: AI tools for enhancing student productivity.
Session 3: Ethical considerations in AI for education and research.
Session 4: Enhancing research reporting and publication through AI.
 
The FDP on “Leveraging AI for Teaching and Research” received high praise from all participants, who expressed their gratitude and provided positive feedback.

FDP for MBA Faculty of GSSS

The MBA Faculty of GSSS Institute of Engineering & Technology for Women, Mysore, participated in a two-day Faculty Development Programme (FDP) in Management, held on October 30-31, 2023.
 
The faculty team from SDMIMD and GSSS inaugurated the program & faculty resource persons of SDMIMD conducted various sessions on different topics for a duration of 2 days, as mentioned below:
 
  • Specialization topics in Finance by Dr. M. Sriram, Dr.Riyaz Ahmed, and Dr. S. Kannadas.
  • Specialization topics in HRM by Dr. Mousumi Sengupta, Dr.Mamta Hegde, and Dr. L. Gandhi
  • Specialization topics in Marketing by Dr. Nanda Kishore Shetty, Dr. Keerthan Raj, and Dr.S. Saibaba
The program concluded with a valedictory session and the distribution of certificates.

2nd batch FDP for Professors & Doctors of SDM Ayurveda College, Udupi

A two days Faculty Development Programme was conducted at SDM Ayurveda College, Udupi on 25th and 26th september 2023 for the 2nd batch of their Professors & Doctors. Following sessions were conducted by the faculty resource persons of SDMIMD during these two days:

  • Making your profession your passion,Team building & Leadership skills, Role model for students and Public by Dr. Mamta Hegde
  • Updating teaching skills, Application of AI in class room & Application of AI in research and Scientific paper writing by Dr.Sunil MV
The programme was very well appreciated by all the participants as well as by SDMAC Principal Dr.Mamata K.V. and Programme coordinator Dr. Gayathri Hegde. 

Faculty Development Program

A 14-hour Faculty Development Programme was conducted at SDM College of Ayurveda and Hospital, Udupi for their Professors & Doctors on 6th and 7th July 2023.

FDP on Innovative Teaching Methods

Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on “Innovative Teaching Methods” was conducted at SDMIMD on 30th May 2023. FDP was inaugurated by Director-SDMIMD Dr.S.N. Prasad. 
 
The sessions were conducted by the SDMIMD faculty resource person Dr. Mousumi Sengupta -Professor in Organizational Behaviour and Human Resources area, and Dr. Sunil MV, Assistant Professor- General Management area.
 
The Topics covered in the FDP were: Types and methods of innovative teaching, Role plays & Case study methods of innovative teaching, Artificial Intelligence-Introduction, Hands-on experience on AI tools, Designing AI based student assignment and evaluation techniques.
 
The programme was well appreciated by the participants who were the faculty members of various reputed Management Institutes in and around Mysore.

In-house FDP on Online Platform for Teaching-Learning

Prof. M. Minhaj, Associate Professor – Systems, SDMIMD, conducted training program on use of Online Platform for teaching learning process. The features available in the Enterprise Edition of the software was demonstrated and the applicability in the real classroom scenario was discussed. The online training program was organized on May 27, 2021.

Earlier, Dr. N.R. Parasuraman, Director, SDMIMD, delivered the welcome address. 
 
Mr. Pinto, Director – PG Department, St. Philomena’s College said ‘Institutes should follow a balanced approach in offering the quality education to the affordable and deprived section of the society. This helps in making the young generation to contribute to the nation building equally in future’. 
 
Dr. R. Jagadeesh, the principal Resource Person of the program introduced the theme and introduced the dignitaries. The other Resource persons Prof. Gandhi, Prof. Minhaj and Dr. Sunil were present. More than 40 faculty members from Post Graduate Department of St. Philomena’s College participated in the program.
