Introducing 'Prerana' by Mr Niranjan Naik

Mr Niranjan N Naik, President, Prerana – SDMIMD Alumni Association & Senior Consultant at Prominent Mind, introduced Prerana – SDMIMD Alumni Association to the New Batch of PGDM Program. The talk introduced the activities, support and network of Prerana to the students on campus. The interactive session was organized as a part of the Orientation Program for PGDM 2021-23, held on August 5, 2021.

Orientation Program for PGDM 2021-23

The customary Orientation Program was organised on a virtual platform to welcome and introduce the different dimensions of management for the new batch of the PGDM Program (2021-23). The series was inaugurated by the Director of SDMIMD Dr N.R. Parasuraman on August 5, 2021. Prof. L. Gandhi, Chairman - Admission, welcomed the batch and introduced the PGDM Batch 2021-2023 to the institute. Dr S.N. Prasad, Deputy Director, shared the key experiencial features of SDMIMD in a talk titled 'LIFE @ SDMIMD'. This was followed by the introduction to academic administration, IT services, e-Learning services and other technology services for the teaching-learning process; by the respective Section Heads. Prof. Gandhi presented the vote of thanks.

Recognition to SDMites Toastmasters Club

During the year 2020-2021 SDMIMD Toastmasters Club performance has won many accolades including - Spirit of 121 awards; the Super 7 Award; the Open House Citation Award; and the Rising Star Award.

To carry forward the success and the club activities for the year 2021-2022, the new Executive Committee was installed on July 7, 2021 in the presence of the Area Director DTM Kavita Prakash, and Division Director DTM Vaibhav Gupta, Faculty Mentos from SDMIMD Dr. Neetu Ganapathy and Dr. Srilakshminarayana.

The Executive Committee for the year 2021-2022 includes President -TM Nandha Kumar; VP Education - TM Bavithra K; VP Membership – TM Meghana; VP Public Relations – TM Chaithanya JK; Secretary - TM Kolachana Sai Sri Harsha; Treasurer – TM Soumya; and Sergeant at Arms- TM Ananya M Gowda.

Expert talk on Project Management

SDMIMD in collaboration with CII Mysore Chapter organized webinar on ‘Project Management’ on July 29, 2021. Mr. C.K. Sabareeshan, Director, S3V Vascular Technologies; and, Past Chairman, CII Mysuru, delivered the session. During the event President of CII Mysore Mr. Pavan G. Ranga, Director, NR Group and MD, Rangsons addressed the gathering on the session theme. Dr. (Lt Col) Prasad S.N., Deputy Director & Professor – Strategy, SDMIMD, anchored and moderated the session.

Prerana - SDMIMD Talk by Mr A Ravi Shankar

SDMIMD Alumnus Mr N. Ravi Shankar, Co-Founder & CEO, Aim High Consulting, delivered the talk as part of the 'Inspiring Alumni Story' series on July 24, 2021. Mr Ravi Shankar shared the success story of AIM High Consulting with the alumni and students on campus. The talk was organized by Prerana, the alumni association, and SDMIMD.

MDP on Red Flags in Financials and Financial Analytics

A specialized MDP on 'Red Flags in Finance and Financial Analytics,' held on July 16, 2021. The faculty resource persons Dr. M. Sriram, Associate Professor - Finance, and Dr. K. Riyazahmed, Assistant Professor – Finance, emphasized various approaches that individuals can use in evaluating the financial oddities of a company during the virtual sessions of the program. The program gave a good overview of the emerging techniques of ascertaining signals from financial statements and related records.

Nodal Centre of BCIC at SDMIMD

Bangalore Chamber of Industry and Commerce (BCIC) has set up nodal centres in Mysore and Dharwad in collaboration with SDMIMD. The Nodal Centre in Mysore will be called the BCIC SDMIMD Centre for Excellence in Management Studies, and will focus on holding corporate programs, training sessions, workshops and leadership conclaves with the support of the corporate executives of the member Institutions of BCIC. Award of PhD Degree to Mr. Ajay B. Jamnani

Mr. Ajay B. Jamnani, Research Scholar from Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Research Center for Management Studies (SDM RCMS) the research unit of SDM Institute for Management Development (SDMIMD), Mysore, was awarded PhD degree by the University of Mysore, Mysuru, for his thesis ‘A Comparative Analysis of Promotional Strategies of Major E-Commerce Players in India’. The research work was guided by Dr H. Gayathri, Former Deputy Director & Professor - Marketing, SDMIMD, Mysore.

MDP on Creativity, Innovation and Design

SDMIMD organized a MDP on Creativity, Innovation, and Design on the virtual platform on July 14, 2021. The program highlighted the need to develop and nurture creativity, innovation, and design skills in all professional fields. Further, the emphasis of this program was on the persistent attitude required for achieving individual, team, and organizational transformation and excellence. Dr S. Saibaba, Assistant Professor – Marketing, and Dr. (Lt Col) Prasad S.N, Deputy Director & Professor – Strategy and General Management, delivered the sessions.

Nodal Centre of BCIC at SDMIMD

The Nodal Centre in Mysore will be called the BCIC SDMIMD Centre for Excellence in Management Studies, and will focus on holding corporate programs, training sessions, workshops and leadership conclaves with the support of the corporate executives of the member Institutions of BCIC. ‘Efforts of industrial development and skill development should reach the tier II and III cities more effectively. I congratulate and appreciate the effort of the Bangalore Chambers of Industry and Commerce (BCIC) and Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara group for the initiative to establish the Nodal Centre at Mysore & Dharwad. I am sure such initiatives by BCIC to think beyond Bengaluru will help industries and skill enhancement among youths in other parts of the state’ said Hon’ble Minister for Large & Medium Scale Industries, Government of Karnataka Shri Jagadish Shettar, during the inauguration of Nodal Centre; and Centre for Management Excellence by BCIC SDMIMD on July 15, 2021, in Bangalore.

Speaking on occasion, Dharmadhikari of Dharmasthala and Chairman of SDM Education Trust Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade Acknowledged the great work being carried out by BCIC and expressed hope that the collaboration with SDMIMD will bring forth new areas of exposure to students. He also expressed his joy at the collaboration being extended to Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara University in Dharwad, where there are clear plans for focused growth in the years to come

Dr N.R. Parasuraman, Director, SDMIMD, explained the context behind setting up the Nodal Centres. Given the international accreditation and tie-ups that SDMIMD has, this arrangement will bolster corporatisation and consultancy areas for the Institute apart from paving the way for focused research enabling smooth decision making. He drew attention to the fact that BCIC has proven expertise in several areas of interest in management and these will be focused on by the Nodal Centres.
