The 5th Batch of the Blended Program on Developing Business Excellence (DBE) – With a Sense of Social Responsibility for overseas students studying in India to understand India’s business environment, consumer behaviour, cultural background, and corporate environment. The program is known for sensitizing students from overseas who visit India for educational purposes about the ethics and social relevance of the Indian business environment.
The 5th Batch has attracted 27 students from 10 Countries - Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Jordan, Yemen, Nigeria, Cambodia, Tajikistan, Sudan, Guinea, and Uganda.
Inaugurating the 5th Batch of the DBE program Dr Mousumi Sengupta, Chairperson - Academic Enhancement Committee and Professor - OB/HR, SDMIMD, said, ‘The 10-hour program aims to give overall exposure to diverse aspects Indian business environment. The program introduces the culture, ethics, leadership, consumer behaviour, social responsibility, corporate culture, and Indian family business. The course content is framed and offered by highly accomplished faculty members in the respective area.'
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Sunil M.V., Faculty Coordinator of the DBE Program and Assistant Professor - Systems and General Management, SDMIMD, Mysore, said, 'It is a much-needed initiative by both SDMIMD and the University of Mysore to sensitize foreign students about India and its rich culture. Students will be receiving Degrees in their domain, but it's our responsibility to enhance their knowledge about India and its inclusiveness in different dimensions.'

The Overseas students in India received the Certificate for attending the Program on Developing Business Excellence [DBE] – with a Sense of Social Responsibility, designed and offered by Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Institute for Management Development (SDMIMD) Mysore, on July 5, 2023, during the award function held at SDMIMD campus.
The 5th Batch of the DBE program had Twenty-Seven Students from Nine countries who received the Certificate from the SDMIMD Director, Dr S.N. Prasad and Dr G.R. Janardhana, Director, International Center and Professor of Botany, University of Mysore, Mysuru.
In his presidential address, Dr. S.N. Prasad said, 'Your Knowledge and the wisdom gained is the only asset that remains with you even if the whole world rejects you. The single mantra for success is lifelong learning aiming at gaining Knowledge.' Further, speaking about the program, he said, 'The knowledge about the different cross-cultural aspects is core to the contemporary globalized world and such programs will give you an edge over others.'
In his address, Dr. Janardhana urged international students to use the opportunities and expertise of the institute of repute when they are in India to enhance their skills and knowledge gain. Further, he appreciated the effort of SDMIMD in building awareness about India and its culture with a sense of social responsibility among foreign nationals.
Earlier, Dr. Sunil M.V., Coordinator of the DBE Program, presented the program overview and the report about the sessions held during the 5th Batch of DBE. SDMIMD faculty and staff were present at the event.
