Case Workshop by Prof. Vasant Sivaraman

SDMIMD had the privilege of hosting Prof. Vasant Sivaraman, Professor at SP Jain Institute of Management & Research, Mumbai. He had interactive sessions with the Faculty on best practices of crafting teaching cases on December 17, 2024. Prof. Vasant shared his experience and expertise of case writing and teaching which was very insightful and highly received.  The event was held at the SDMIMD campus.  Dr S N Prasad Director SDMIMD  delivered opening remarks to the program. Dr B Venkatraja, Chairperson- SDM Research Centre for Management Studies welcomed and introduced the Guest. 

Workshop on Digital Marketing and AI in Marketing - November 29, 2024

In today's fast-evolving digital landscape, Artificial Intelligence (AI) is transforming the way businesses approach marketing. Brief Profile of the Resource Persons:

Dr. Keerthan Raj is an Associate Professor in Marketing at SDMIMD and is an accomplished educationist and administrator with 23 years’ split as a twofold experience - in leading major multinational banks and academia, having handled leadership roles as Dean for Academics, Research and Administration. She is an alumnus of IIM Indore, also having completed an Executive Programme in Digital Marketing from IIM Indore.
Dr. S. Saibaba, with over 23 years of industry and academic experience, specializes in AI-driven marketing, marketing analytics (R & Python), and marketing metrics. He is an experienced educator and trainer, focusing on data-driven decision-making, innovation, and design thinking. Proficient in tools like Excel, SPSS, and Tableau, Dr. Saibaba has contributed extensively to teaching, research, and professional development in marketing.

Workshop on Indian Society in Transition by Dr. R. Indira Ramarao

Dr. R. Indira Ramarao, retired Professor of Sociology and former Director of the International Center at the University of Mysuru, conducted a workshop on "Indian Society in Transition" for the PGDM 2024-2026 batch. The workshop was organized as part of the orientation program on July 18, 2024.

Workshop on Legal Aspects of Business

SDMIMD had the privilege of hosting Dr. Hema Harsha, an acclaimed expert with 25 years of experience in both the IT sector and academia. Dr. Harsha, an Associate Professor at MP Birla Institute of Management and a seasoned consultant in POSH and DEI, delivered a dynamic and informative workshop on business law, held on June 10-11, 2024.
 
Workshop Highlights:
 
  • POSH: Detailed the POSH Act of 2013, emphasizing employer responsibilities and the establishment of Internal Committees for a harassment-free workplace.
  • IPR: Explained the importance of patents, copyrights, and trademarks in protecting business innovations.
  • Company Law: Discussed the Companies Act 2013, corporate governance, legal requirements, and CSR initiatives.
  • IT Act: Covered legal recognition of digital documents and essential cybersecurity measures.
  • Contract Act: Emphasized key elements of the Indian Contract Act, 1872, for enforceable business agreements.
Dr. Harsha’s workshop provided invaluable knowledge on legal frameworks that support and shape business practices, inspiring us to explore these critical topics further as future business leaders.

Workshop on Predictive AI and Analytics

SDM IMD organized a workshop on the conceptual and technical elements of Artificial Intelligence and Analytics in Business. Though the workshop centered mainly on the development of predictive AI models for banking, stock trading, and other areas of finance, professionals from non-financial backgrounds also curiously attended. The workshop was held on March 7, 2024, in hybrid mode and consisted of academics and research scholars from Mumbai, Bangalore, and parts of Tamil Nadu.

Dr. SN Prasad, Director of SDMIMD, launched the event, underlining the importance of AI in business and finance. Dr. Nandakishore, the MDP Chairperson, supervised the event.

Workshop on Essentials of ERP

The Centre for Advanced Learning (CAL) committee of SDMIMD conducted a workshop on the essentials of ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) for first-year students of PGDM 2023-25 on January 10, 2024. The workshop aimed to provide a comprehensive understanding of ERP systems and their significance in today's dynamic business environment. Dr. Neetu Ganapathy, a renowned expert in the field, shared valuable insights and practical knowledge to equip attendees with a solid foundation in ERP concepts.

The workshop included the following:

  • Streamlining business processes, enhancing collaboration, improving decision-making, and optimizing resource utilization through ERP.
  • Gaining a deeper understanding of ERP's role in organizational efficiency and effectiveness.

One-day Workshop on 'Crafting Business Cases-Leveraging AI’

A Workshop on 'Crafting Business Cases: Leveraging AI', was successfully conducted on January 6, 2024, at SDMIMD. The program has attracted academicians and research scholars from various parts of the country, and all of them actively participated in this workshop.
 
The faculty resource person of  Dr. K. Riyazahmed, SDMIMD, conducted various sessions on case writing during the day, as mentioned below:
Session 1: Essential aspects of case writing and teaching.
Session 2: Steps in Drafting Main Case Content.
Session 3: Preparing teaching notes and additional components, crafting cases using AI support.
Session 4: Design your case: case outlining and abstract preparation (hands-on), Submission and publication process: dos and don'ts.
 
Dr. S.N. Prasad, Director of SDMIMD, inaugurated the program in the presence of faculty members and participants at the MDP hall of SDMIMD. The program concluded with a valedictory session and the distribution of certificates. The workshop received high praise from all the participants, who expressed very positive feedback.

Workshop on Predictive AI & Analytics

Artificial Intelligence is not a trend of the future; It is already very much deployed in business, commerce, and all walks of human life. With the growing availability of financial and customer data and efficiency in handling them for valuable insights, stock markets, and financial institutions have begun to leverage them wholly to benefit the stakeholders. The ways and means of using data for business insights are referred to as 'analytics. But as stakeholders of the financial system, do we know the big picture of AI, ML, and Analytics in the context of Finance? How is the numeric and textual data in finance used to build an environment that facilitates businesses to get insights, predict, and automate processes? Business Law Workshop by Dr. Hema Harsha

Dr. Hema Harsha, Associate Professor, MP Birla Institute of Management, Bengaluru, conducted a workshop on Business Laws and POSH Modules at SDMIMD on 23-24 August 2023.
 
The workshop covered topics such as contracts, company law, consumer protection, and the Prevention of Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace Act (POSH).
 
Dr. Hema is an experienced legal expert with a wealth of knowledge on business law. She shared her insights on the legal framework of business in India and how businesses can protect themselves from legal risks. She also discussed the POSH Act and how businesses can create a safe and harassment-free workplace for their employees.
 
The workshop was a valuable learning experience for the participants and helped them to understand the legal aspects of business in India.
