Mr S. Chandramouli, Chief Operating Officer (COO), Feedback Business Consulting Services Ltd., addressed the PGDM 2019-21 students during their orientation programme held on July 3, 2019. Mr Chandramouli focused his talk introducing the importance of advertisement in today’s competitive business environment. Further, the speaker shared his experiences in the field of advertising and media in building successful brands. The session concluded with the Q&A.

‘Confidence is good, but over-confidence is bad. Confidence is very important in life for everyone. But when a person becomes over-confident, he takes such great risks as are beyond his capacity to deal with successfully. It is like fighting against the laws of nature, which is the mistake committed by the millennials most of the time’ thus said Ms. Shoba Arun, Head C-TEA Corporate Technology & Engineering Academy, L & T, Mysuru, during the invited talk delivered to the PGDM 2019-21 Batch organized as a part of the orientation program held on July 2, 2019.
Ms. Shoba gave her views about the first generation of digital natives, so called “The Millennials”. She threw light on how these millennials are altering the very social fabric of the world, how they are disrupting retail, hospitality, transportation, environment and travel, how they will soon radically change higher education and how they are disrupting the work culture?
She acknowledged us about the six functional changes of millennials compared to the previous generations which is called the “Big Six”. This was followed by Question & Answers session.

‘Every class is an experimenting lab with live brains for a faculty and we experiment with new methods, tools & techniques, and, resources’ thus said Dr. Ruth Shantha Kumari, Principal, St. Philomena’s College, Mysore, during the inauguration of the 2-Day Faculty Development Program (FDP) on Teaching & Learning organized jointly by Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Institute for Management Development (SDMIMD) and St. Philomena’s College, Mysore, held on July 2 & 3, 2019 at SDMIMD.
Earlier, Dr. N.R. Parasuraman, Director, SDMIMD, delivered the welcome address.
Mr. Pinto, Director – PG Department, St. Philomena’s College said ‘Institutes should follow a balanced approach in offering the quality education to the affordable and deprived section of the society. This helps in making the young generation to contribute to the nation building equally in future’.
Dr. R. Jagadeesh, the principal Resource Person of the program introduced the theme and introduced the dignitaries. The other Resource persons Prof. Gandhi, Prof. Minhaj and Dr. Sunil were present. More than 40 faculty members from Post Graduate Department of St. Philomena’s College participated in the program.

Prabhakar, Honorable Secretary, SDM Educational Trust, in his address delivered during the commencement of ‘Orientation Program 2019’ organized for the new batch of PGDM 2019-21 on July 1, 2019. Prof. Prabhakar recalled the efforts of the SDME Trust and educational service to society by Shri Kshethra Dharmasthala.
Earlier Dr. N.R. Parasuraman, Director, SDMIMD, delivered the welcome address and Prof. S.N. Prasad, Chairman-Admission, introduced the dignitaries to the new batch and their parents.

On 29th June 2019, SDMIMD organized a Management Development Program on ‘MDP on Six Thinking Hats and Management Games for Employee Excellence’. The program was aimed at providing insights on the nature and importance of Gamification and six thinking hats, conducting a sample of games & provide interpretations on the benefits of those games, sharing some popular corporate/management stories and providing tips to construct effective live stories.
Dr. R. Jagadeesh, Professor (Operations) inaugurated the program. Dr. M.V. Sunil, Program Coordinator and faculty members were present in the program. Prof. L Gandhi, and Dr.(Lt Col) Prasad SN, Faculty Resource Persons in their interactive sessions with the participants, provided insights on 6 Thinking hats and its application in decision making, Selected management games and interpretations, Power of storytelling, Gamification and Story Telling as interventional strategies and Motivational mechanisms. The program enlightened the participants on effective utilization of Six thinking hats and its application on the organizational decision making. The program was attended by middle level executives, faculty members and trainers from leading corporates and institutes.

Ms Karshini Tyagarajan of PGDM 2018-20 won the 'Star Reporter of the Month' award for May 2019 by Business Standard. The award is in recognition for the appreciation for the reports to Business Standard column 'Campus Talk'. Mr S. Jayaraam, Region Head - Market Development and Regional Manager Mr Madhu of Business Standard gave away the award which includes the certificate, cash prize and goodies from the company. |

Mr J. Vikas of PGDM 2018-20 won the 'Mr Integrity Model South India' title and emerged as the runner-up in the Ranai Beauty Pageant 2019 competition held in Hassan during April 2019. Impressed by the performance of Mr Vikas in ramp walk, dance, Q&A rounds during the audition, the jury members selected him directly to the final round. Mr Vikas is also Mr NIEIT during his Engineering. |

On 22nd June 2019, SDMIMD organized an interactive session on ‘Product Management’ as a part of its Prerana – Alumni Lecture Series, with Mr. Rajnikanth Urs M.C., Regional Product Manager for Asia Pacific and Japan, HP Asia Pacific Pte Ltd., as the distinguished speaker.
‘Attitude, persistence, patience, the ability to understand the customers and present the right solutions are the core skill set required to be successful in the field’ thus said Mr. Rajinikanth Urs, while sharing his insights on qualities and skills that were instrumental in making him a successful product manager for Asia Pacific region at HP.
In his address, Mr. Urs spoke about Product Management and threw light on its different aspects which included, product life cycle, competitor analysing, customer requirement, identifying the gaps in the present market, planning for a product in terms of features and budget and further, deciding a plan to launch the same.
The session was concluded with Mr. Urs addressing the queries raised by students with respect to the topic and pertaining to a career in Sales and Marketing.

A one-day Management Development Program (MDP) on 'Managing Difficult Customers' was held on June 21, 2019, at SDMIMD, Mysore. The program was designed for executives and managers who manage customers and academicians in the area of marketing.
The resource persons were Dr Mousumi Sengupta, Professor of Organizational Behaviour & Human Resource Management and Dr Sugant, Professor - Marketing. The sessions were planned to discuss the tools such as emotional intelligence in dealing with the customers, steps involved in complaint handling, relationship management, customer value and tools & strategies for service recovery. The sessions were driven through activities and exercises.
Earlier, Dr H. Gayathri, Deputy Director & Professor-Marketing, SDMIMD, inaugurated the program and opined that 'Customer is always right' and social media plays important role in reaching the customer and managing them. Dr Sunil MV, Coordinator, introduced the resource persons and presented the theme of the programme.

The IT Panel of CII, Mysuru had organized a Stakeholders Interaction on E-Waste Management at SDMIMD on 21 June 2019. The objective of the meeting was to advocate the safe disposal of e-waste and to devise an efficient and sustainable model for management of the e-waste generated in Mysuru. Mr. Shankar Prasad, Vertical Head of Excelsoft Technologies Pvt Ltd and convener IT Panel, welcomed the participants and coordinated the program. Dr. H. Gayathri, Deputy Director, SDMIMD made her opening remarks about the theme of the program. The program was presided by the chairman of CII Mysore, Mr. Bhaskar Kalale. Dr. A. Ramesh, Senior Environmental Officer, KSPCB, Bangalore presented the rules and regulations in E-Waste Management. Dr. P. M. Kulkarni, President of Bhageerath spoke about the issues and challenges related to e-waste management. Dr. Nagaraj, Health Officer, Mysore City Corporation, delivered the keynote address. The program, which was attended by 90 delegates, concluded with an interactive session, moderated by members of CII IT Panel, Mr. Sudheer and Mr. Rakesh Babu. Mr. Raghava Lingegowda, Group Vertical Head, Theorem Inc., proposed the vote of thanks. |
